“A Restful Weekend @ Iron Mountain Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

The Inn was exactly as it appeared online inside & out, actually even better in person. We felt comfortable the moment we got out of the car & Ms. Vikki was on the porch to greet us. Our room was very clean & the bathroom was spotless.....important to my girlfriend. Accommodations were upscale & very comfortable with many amenties. We slept soundly both nights which allowed us plenty of energy for hiking & shopping. Vikki was very helpful with information & recommendations for restaurants & shopping opportunities. We made dinner reservations but hit a road construction detour on the way so we called Vikki for directions & she talked us through the problem & she even called ahead for us to be sure the restaurant did not close before we arrived. We were impressed. The Great Room is very homey & warm & a great place to relax with a glass of wine before the fireplace. We stayed in the "Family Memories" room with a balcony off the bedroom that overlooked the valley & mountains in the distance. We also enjoyed watching chipmunks, squirrels, and birds from it in the mornings. Our host, Vikki Woods, is an interesting person & we enjoyed meeting her & her excellent hospitality. We recommend the Iron Mountain Inn for a relaxing mountain retreat. It will be time well spent.

“Veterans Day Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

My wife and I stayed here on Veterans Day 2011 and I must say that Vikki really honors Veterans. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt like VIP's. Her motto, "Pampered to Perfection" is right on target. The room, the views, the Inn, the service is excellent. We cannot wait until the weather gets warmer so we can go back on our Harley Davidson, which she welcomes also.

Room Tip: We would recommend any of the rooms.

“ABSOLUTELY WONDERDUL!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

My boyfriend and I visited during the first couple of weeks of October, and the views and colors were amazing. There is a hiking trail behind the Inn, along with a creek you can hear from your room if the balcony door is open. It is very relaxing and we felt welcomed as soon as we pulled up in the driveway. The Inn is literally at the top of the mountain and Vikki is so sweet and friendly. She gave us ideas of where to eat locally, and it was great, and she gave us the idea of bringing friends and staying in her creekside cabin. I really loved my stay and recommend it to all people of all ages!! :)

Room Tip: The spring room has great views all throughout the morning day and night. I loved the tub with the j...

“Fall at the Lake House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

Vikki's Lake House is the absolute greatest place to spend a week. A week is the shortest time you will want to stay - and then you will be trying to figure how to extend your vacation. Our family vacation this past summer was spent at the Lake House and the Creekside Chalet. Our children and grandchildren all fell in love with the lake, mountains and river. No one wanted to depart. It was so good that my wife and I returned in October and rented the Lake House for another week. We arrived on October 9th as the leaves were peaking. The Iron Mountains and the Cheorkee National Forest were a blaze of color. The Lake House sits on the Watauga Lake and it is surronded by the forest. Evenings and mornings brought the Canadian Geese to the dock with their honking. The deer were were eating the apples off the ground and it was wonderful weather. Trips to Boone and Blowing Rock, NC were fun as well as the stunning drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The day spent trout fishing on the Watagua was rewarding - my biggest trout of the year on a 5wt flyrod while wading. The house has everything anyone could want for entertaining and relaxing. We felt absolutely at home. Will we return again - absoluetly. We love the lake, the river, the mountains, the people and the Lake House.

“Relaxing and Beautiful Getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

After talking with Vikki we decided to extend our Two night stay to Five nights and are glad we did. She offered us the Creek Chalet and even the Lake house but decided we wanted to be pampered at the Inn. The Steam (or Menthol )Shower complete with separate tub was glorious. The porch view wrapping around the Inn was humbling to behold. Glorious mornings and breath taking sunsets. Bed was comfortable and had such fun riding horses and we chose the easy ride! Went to the Theater and the local festival, but the Thai Restaurant that rebuilt after the tornado is outstanding and it is just down the road. Food is authentic!! All in All, we would love to return one day to this accomodating innkeeper and her inn, which is so spacious and comfortable. She built this place to be a bed and breakfast, so it is not just a bedroom in a house. We highly recommend Vikki and the Iron Mountain Inn.
It is like visiting a close friend or relative's home.
