“The most unpleasant and inhospitable hotel I have ever stayed at.”

Do not ever use this hotel if you want service and things to work. I stayed here for 5 nights and was absolutely appalled at the front desk's attitude. They could care less. No one knew or cared about the following:

l. how to retrieve the phone messages - absolutely no instructions and the front desk neither knew how to instruct me to do so, and when I asked they just shrugged their shoulders
2. computers were both out of order in the business center, which they advertise as free.- free doesn't count if the computers don't work!! when I brought this to the attention of the front desk, they just shrugged their shoulders and said they didn't know what to do
3. treadmill was non-functional and when I asked the front desk and the Manager to help, I was sent a note to my room that said it was working and then I immediately went and tried it and it wasn't working. I guess this hotel's solution to fixing things is just to tell people it's fixed and not really do anything about it. Do they think we are stupid??
4. the toilet in my room was backing up and the front desk's excuse for not fixing it for 3 days was that they didn't have a maintenance man on duty all the time!!!
5. the water machine didn't work in the fitness center and once again, same excuse as #4.
6. I have come back home with a lovely case of bed bug bites!! I guess that is their present to all their guests!

I was absolutely appalled by this hotel and Management. They could care less. The only person that served me well and very kindly was this breakfast lady named Minny. Now there is service with a smile. That woman should be running the hotel and the Manager, Michael Horst, should be serving the breakfast or doing the chambermaid work. Then we would probably see better service. I have stayed in hundred of hotels around the world and this truly was my very worst experience ever.

Room Tip: Don't stay here whatever the situation. You will regret it and your stress level will go up imm...

“NIce hotel for the money!”

Just got back from a weekend of house-hunting and the Wingate made a nice base. . Very comfortable bed & pillows and our room was very clean. High-speed internet in the rooms--though I occasionally had trouble with the wireless, I just plugged into the Ethernet cable. Doesn't have some of the high-end finishes like flat screen TVs or granite in the bathrooms, but it was very clean and in good condition. King room had plenty of room to spread out with a big chair/ottoman, desk with office chair, and a mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Breakfast was adequate with waffles, eggs, sausage, fruit, yogurt, toast, English muffins, bagels, and cereal. The usual coffee, juices and milk were also available.

A few downsides:
Pool is outside--closed during bad weather so beware of this if you have kids.
Nightstands only on one side of the bed...had to put my book, drink, cell, etc on the floor.
Air conditioner--keeps clicking on and off when it gets to the proper temperature. VERY irritating when trying to sleep.
Mulch/fertilizer--just outside the front door it smelled like the inside of a horse barn. We literally held our noses from the front door to about 10 feet away from the mulch beds.

Overall I have no problem recommending this hotel to anyone coming to the area.

“Great location”

We loved this hotel. It was very clean and the employees were very helpful with directions and suggestions for restaurants near by. We will definately stay there again when we're in the Nashville area.

“Stay someplace else, horribe experience, no room upon arrival!”

Arrived at the hotel at 12:30 p.m.after a six hour drive. Unloaded luggage, proceeded to the counter to check in. The clerk fumbled in the computer for ten minutes; can't find our reservation and finally tells me I cancelled my reservation! I had my paid in full confirmtion in hand and immediately stated I had NOT cancelled my reservation, why was I here? After his fumbling with the computer again for another 10 minutes he tells me the hotel's central reservation center cancelled our reservation and there is no room for us they were booked! He also stated it was common for this to happen at least once a week , so I guess we were the lucky ones that week. I refused to accept this explanation, it was late and where were we suppoed to find another hotel at that time of the night. He finally said he would call the hotel a few doors down for a room for us, we even went out to the parking lot of the Wingate and he pointed to the hotel! We loaded up our luggage and went over to the hotel as instructed by the Wingate check-in clerk. We proceeded to the desk, gave our name and stated the Wingate had called for a room for us. The hotel check-in clerk stated that no one had called from the Wingate for a room for us! They were booked and had no rooms! The clerk assisting us called the Wingate clerk and asked him who he had called because it was not them. We were then told the Wingate clerk had not called the hotel he had pointed to, but another hotel 15 minutes away! He told her he must have gotten confused! After another twenty minute search for the hotel he ACTUALLY called, we were finally able to get into a room at 2:00 a.m. in the morning. We have written to both the Manager of the hotel, Mr. Jeff Glover, and also to the Wingate corporate office about our experience and neither of them have responded. Find a hotel that cares about it's guests, this is not the place. Even with your confirmation, you may NOT have a room when you arrive and they won't care about either!

“This is a great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2011

We stayed at the Wingate from Dec. 28th to the 31st and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. I had reserved a suite since other family members would be joining us for visiting during our stay. It was a very large room with the bedroom and bath in a separate area. We had plenty of chairs and seating for 8 people to visit very comfortably, without using the bedroom area at all. The price was right and everything about our stay was great. The breakfast was very good and the staff very helpful. It was very clean and quiet and we would definitely stay there again, and recommend it to others.
