I needed a little scenery change. The spouse did not want to go far, so we decided on Nashville. I'd worked there before and she hadn't been there, so it was a great opportunity.
We researched some hotels in the Vanderbilt University/Downtown area, but found them way too expensive. Then I remembered, Brentwood, a very near suburb (8 minutes from downtown on I-65 South), with upscale resident homes and several mid-size hotels.
Using googlemaps and the phrase "hotels in brentwood, tn" I found several hotels I'd seen before. I chose, Extended Stay America Nashville-Brentwood after research revealed a price of less than $45 a night. I knew the area was nice from my experience staying at a sister property, Studio Plus, across the street, when I traveled there on business.
Location:
It is located just off of the Old Hickory Blvd exit on I-65 south. A very short ride from downtown. A few quick turns will put you on Church St, a relatively quiet street with a few business and office complexes.
Hotel Exterior:
There is nothing fancy about the outside. The property consist of two separate buildings that are well kept up on the outside. The office closes at 11pm.
Room Interior:
You enter your room from the outside. The rooms are definitely small. But they still have a refrigerator, two burner stove, microwave and coffee maker. They are very basic, because they are primarily meant to traveling workers, contractors and professionals looking for an economical place to stay for several days. The room was clean, simple and adequate.
Surroundings:
There was a niche food store, called Fresh Market about 5 blocks away and a Publix Supermarket about 6 blocks away. There is a mall with a Target and Best Buy on the other side of the freeway (I-65). Several restaurants are nearby including O'Charley and Corky's BBQ.
Other factors:
There was a bit of noise for awhile from other rooms and someone's car alarm kept going for a period of time. So I would consider sound insulation rather poor. If you need a quieter environment, the Studio Plus across the street was always quiet.
It is my basic opinion that for a quick and cheap stay near Nashville, that this was an excellent bargain. Hotels downtown were running more than $140 on average. Yes, I would stay there again.
