“A Little Disappointed..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We stayed here for the Annual South Dakota Corn Growers Meeting and Conference. We checked in around 5pm on Friday and we were placed in the Executive Side of the Hotel. I asked when checking in if we could be placed in the main tower. The check in gal told us that all the King rooms in the main tower were checked in and occupied and and that if we wanted a King, we'd have to stay in the Executive side. I honestly don't think all the corn growers had checked in as when we left to eat dinner at 7pm we saw many Corn Grower Members checking in at the desk. Our room had a small chunk of carpet torn out and also a stain on it. A large area of tile grout around the toilet had dark pink stain around it also..too bad, a room with this kind of wear and tear left a bad impression with us. We were only provided 2 sets of towels, so a phone call to the front desk was made and more towels were brought to us. The bed was okay, but felt like we were sleeping on plastic all night long so I checked the next morning thinking it was a plastic mattress pad under the sheet. It was not plastic, but the nylon type they use in nursing homes. They have in room internet, but at a rate of $2.99 per hour. Breakfast is not free, but you can get a rate in which breakfast is included in your room rate. Oh by the way, bottled water in the room is $3.99. It is printed in very small print on the bottle. The hotel does have a bar, restaurant, small pool, and business center on sight. Will we stay here again?..I doubt it, as we stay in hotels 85-90 nights a year and some of these nights are in Sioux Falls. There are much nicer and better places to stay in this town.

“Definitely in decline.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

I've stayed at this property several times, and reviewed it positively a couple of years ago. The rooms are basic, and aside from Sheraton's great bedding and the fitness center, there's nothing special here.

The bathroom fixtures are very badly worn, and the shower was a harsh, uneven spray. Gone are the nice touches like quality toiletries and complementary cotton swabs. The room-service food was really pretty awful, but expensive.

Some things haven't changed, though: The public areas are well-maintained and appealing and they're still charging for wifi.

There are better hotels in Sioux Falls, but if you can score this property at Hotwire's $55 rate for a king room like I did, it's a good deal.

Room Tip: If you're noise sensitive, avoid a room on the atrium.

“quite okay stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

If Trip Advisor gave us half stars I would so add a half star here, but that's not an option, and it doesn't feel right to go up to 4, so I will say that we do feel that this is one of the better hotel options in Sioux Falls. Having read another review that mentioned major construction, we were a tad concerned, but seriously construction was the least of our concerns. It was a quick in. We did see "just painted signs" inside the first day, but how great is that? Give me fresh paint, fresh anything in a hotel, I'm all for it!

The room was mostly comfortable. Certainly clean. Everything here in the winter is so DRY. I would take a shower, get out and be bright RED. Honestly, I didn't know skin could get this dry. That being said, it's not necessarily the hotel's fault. Might be more of a city/city water fault. Or just old me. Bring good lotion and/or benadryl...just saying...

Speaking of just saying, I will say that this hotel has paper thin walls. Husband and I are still debating about whether what we heard one morning was human or canine. :)

Now, let's talk a minute about the bar area. We spent some good money here entertaining relatives. It's okay. Just okay. Comfortable. Somewhat friendly service. Somewhat reasonably priced. It would be so nice if the hotel restaurant would come up with some kind of favorite item that would get people talking and/or wanting to come back. Instead the food options are boring and just barely okay. Drinks okay.

TIP: we booked this hotel off Hotwire for $66 per night. For that it was very much okay. Would also add that this is the only time I've ever checked in a hotel and offered a $5 hotel credit for opting out of housekeeping. An interesting consideration.

Tip 2: be sure to check out the Wall of Fame in the lobby...very cool!

“Once again, nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

I was traveling with a co-worker this week. He does not have Starwood status, and he had an absolutely miserable stay. Both from lack of late check out, to poor room.

I on the otherhand, enjoyed my stay, liked my room (I was in the executive wing), and had late check out.

According to my co-worker, he prefers Hilton, and always knows what to expect.

I used to be Hilton, and I agree with his statement. I think loyalty to a chain is important, because you get the additional perks.

I love Sheratons because they have Starbucks in the room, they have nice smelling soaps, and are overall pretty decent.

Room Tip: Ask for room in Executive wing, rooms are newer.

“BEST STAY EVER!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

I have had an amazing experience here at the Sheraton! First off, it is connected to the convention center which is AWESOME since we were going to a concert and planned on having too much of a "good time" to drive afterwards. It is also conveniently close to the airport for all you travelers. Also, compared to other Sheratons I have stayed at before, this one is by far the most beautiful one I've seen yet. At check in, the front desk staff was great especially Samantha and Jennie who took the time to tell me exactly what they all had to offer inside and outside the hotel area whereas other hotels I've stayed in just give me my room keys and hardly recognize me as one of their guests. Their rooms are spacious and quiet and their beds were like sleeping on clouds! Even things as little as calling requesting for more towels, the bellman was up at our door within seconds it seemed! I'm so pleased with the entire staff I've encountered and I would definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends and family!!
