“We are having a great experience. We would recommend this motel to anyone.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

We are spending a week in the Black Hills and needed a place to stay and a base for our daily excursions. The staff have been friendly and helpful. Laura and Karen in particular have been very hospitable, but all the staff have been friendly and cooperative. The motel is convenient to restaurants and a super Wal Mart. Probably the only negative is it is across town from the roads to the Black Hills, but Rapid City traffic is not really a problem.

The value for money would make this a good choice for clean comfortable, basic accommodations. One other suggestion would be for fruit and protein (hard boiled eggs) for the continental breakfast, but, again, for the price of the rooms, that is not a big deal.

We are having a great time and would not hesitate to stay here again or advise others to.

Room Tip: Ask for an in-room refrigerator. Ask four a first fllor room--no elevator.

“Stay Nextdoor If You Can”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

If you can, stay at the Grand Gateway, the Foothill's "sister" hotel nextdoor instead. Much nicer!

“Friendly service and average rooms. And a pool too!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

The motel is located on the outskirts of Rapid City, with several bars and family restaurants nearby.
It is a low rise building, probably thirty years old. The place looks clean, but cigarette fumes were apparent at times in corridors.
The rooms are spacious and have air conditioners. The en suite bathrooms show their age, but are perfectly clean and functional. A complementary breakfast is included.
The location of this motel, and it's age are the two weak points, but I was very impressed with the service given by the desk staff, both on arrival and on check out.

“Good value, great service, clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

We booked this hotel for two nights through a website and ended up extending our stay another night, which required moving to another room, from a king to two queens. The staff was just wonderful. We especially liked the evening desk clerk, James, who gave us plenty of help with local events and eateries, sights, driving tours, hotel information, etc. The rooms were both clean and comfortable, with firm beds, plenty of good pillows, and good a/c. The towels are sort of thin, which doesn't matter to us, but may to you. The pool area is clean and attractively surrounded with flowering pots and little tables to socialize, although many people with kids were staying there when we were there, so there was never a quiet time at the pool. There is a convenient computer off to the side in the lobby for checking email and we also used it for mapping, and booking our next rooms, and it was available whenever we needed it, though it was slightly slower Internet service than at home. Continental breakfast isn't much, but everything they did have was fresh and of good quality (I can't speak for the microwaveable sausage and egg muffin, as I didn't try it--not my cup of tea, if you know what I mean). If you like a lot of variety, you won't like this breakfast. We also liked the fact that the hotel was so convenient to the highways and any shopping we needed, as well as the downtown area. All in all it was a very good value for that area, and we were completely comfortable and would stay again.

“Very nice and comfortable”

This is a very comfortable motel especially for the price. I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old and the room was a good size for the family. There was a basic breakfast with cereal, toast, and muffins and juice/coffee. The pool was clean but the weather only permitted us to use it for a brief period. This is not a luxury resort but if you need a place to sleep and relax after a day exploring this is perfect.
