“Horrible road noise”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

This hotel is located 50 yards from I-90. DO NOT stay at this hotel if you want to get sleep. The road noise is absolutely terrible. When large trucks go by, I could literally feel the room shake. The room is simple but clean. It would be okay if it were not located right on the interstate. There are two sides--the north side is near the interstate and the south side looks over a parking lot. Still lots of noise on the south side. I asked to move my room and they said no other rooms were available. I could not get any sleep. Avoid this hotel and location unless you can sleep through a bomb blast.

“Terrific Hotel - Clean and Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

We stayed in the Hampton Inn in Mitchell while driving to the Badlands, Black Hills, and Yelllowstone, and Mitchell was the right place for us to get off the road for the evening/night. Check-in was quick and easy, and our room was very clean and comfortable. The kids really enjoyed the pool, which we also enjoyed due to a large pool deck with plenty of chairs and tables for relaxing while watching the kids. The hotel included complimentary wi-fi, which I appreciate when spending $100+ per night to stay somewhere. The shower had plenty of hot water too. The hotel is located right off the Interstate with plenty of food choices nearby, and the Corn Palace is a few miles away as well. Breakfast in the morning was good- plenty of fruit, cereal, and yogurt (as well as eggs/sausage/waffles) so eating healthy was possible. Check-out was efficient and accurate. We definitely would stay here again, and I recommend the hotel for its cleanliness, pool, breakfast choices, and staff friendliness.

“Always friendly and excellent”

I've stayed at this Hampton Inn numerous times, and find it hard to beat for friendly, caring staff. The women servicing the desk, the breakfast, and our room clean-up were all willing to go the extra mile to make sure everything was just right. I was looking around in the bagel bin for breakfast, and the breakfast attendant noticed and asked if I was looking for something in particular. I told her I'd love a cinnamon and raisin bagel, and she said she'd be right back. Out she emerged with the bagel, with instructions to always ask for whatever might be missing. The one challenge on this hotel is one elevator for 3 floors of rooms. Otherwise, the pool, hot tub, and exercise room were great, room was spacious and clean, and I'd highly recommend this Hampton Inn as one of the best.

“Perfect, no complaints.”

Stayed here on a 'round the US bike trip. Was very pleased that the on-duty manager let us and other bikers park under the overhang during a large storm that was expected. The front desk clerk also gave me some used but clean rags so that I could clean some road grime off the bikes. That's uncommon and appreciated. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and breakfast was great. Can't say anything bad. I would stay here again if traveling through. Was very happy to have a restaurant out in the parking lot that was walkable so we didn't have to get back on the bikes (Chilis or Applebees or similar - I forget) and having a gas station right there and a Walmart across the street was most excellent. I recommend this hotel.

“One of the Best Hamptons on the Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

On a 10-day driving vacation, staying mainly at Hampton Inns and Hilton Garden Inns using HHonors points, I'd have to say that this one was the best. Friendly staff, nice clean room (with no smoke smell like many), and one of the best breakfasts along the way (again, with friendly folks looking over it). Shops nearby, Cabela's (see the stuffed and swimming animals), Corn Palace, etc. This was the best night's stay of the trip and the best value by far.
