I stayed in this hotel as did 15+ other employees from my agency for a training and none of us had anything positive to say other than the rooms were decent. I chose this hotel because they advertised a hot breakfast and they had a gymn. Well, the breakfast was not that great and the equipment in the gymn, which consisted of a treadmill, bicycle, and eliptical machine was very old and falling apart. I wound up walking in the evenings and mornings for exercise.
The staff was very unprofessional. The first morning, I went to the dining room to have eggs and sausage which had not been prepared on time. They were supposed to be ready by 6:00 am, but was started at 7:20! Staff were coming into the dining area and filling their coffee mugs and when coffee ran out, there was no new crafts to replace what had been drained. They placed flavored coffee in a regular craft as well, not a problem if it had been labled as such. Each morning, when coffee ran out right when guests were having breakfast, someone had to go to the front desk and ask for more coffee and the staff really took their time with the requests.
There is one computer that is avilable for guests near the front desk. Each time I went to use it, there was a staff person on it. The one time I did get a chance to use the computer I found it very slow due to extreme browsing by staff and had to perform some triage on the machine to get it to run a little faster.
On a daily basis, staff would congregate near the front desk or from the office, in ear shot of guests, and loudly discuss their life issues (drugs, booze, issues with CPS) often using crude and innapropriate language.
I work for a federal agency and as such, usually do not pay taxes. When I checked out, there was no one at the front desk. After waiting at least a minute, I rang the bell that is there for service. The manager came out with an attitude of "how dare you disturb me!". I asked her if she could remove the taxes, which she did, in actions and behavior that dripped "I hate my life, my job, and you" all over it. Now, if you know 15+ people are going to be checking out, common sense says have someone at the front desk until everyone has done so. It's just not rocket science...
Maybe I am expecting too much from this town but goodness, good service should be a no brainer! The town is not a hub of activity but if you look closely, you'll find a decent artistic movement, history, and community spirit. Unfortunately, you will not find these things at the Comfort Inn. J.
