“Great location, very hospitable and quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

For a SMALL town, this was a nice place to stay. Very comfortable beds, nice and clean and hosts wonderful, friendly and accommodating. The only problem, which I hesitate to call it a problem, was the decor was a bit dated for my taste and not in the best way (like 1980's mixed with 1880's!). We loved breakfast and the other guests staying were hunters from Georgia and Washington (?) who were very gracious with sharing their hunting dogs with our kids. Speaking of kids, mine had a good time but were very ready to move on with our trip after one night. And beware....the restaurant choices are nil in this town in the fall (our stay was in October, 2011) and the DQ was the best choice...really...look it up here to see the restaurant ratings! And it closed at 7 pm...we almost didn't get dinner!

“A Pleasurable Experience from Start to Finish”

What a wonderful B&B. Andy greeted us upon our arrival and made us feel at home from the first moment. We were in the "Americana" room. The room was very large for a B&B. It did have 3 beds- one was a murphy bed which we did not use. Plenty of room for the 3 of us. It had a mini frig (which was already to temperature, most places we go we have to turn it on when we get there). The house was fabulous. The front porch was so comfortable and inviting, we spent plenty of time reading and enjoying the cappuccino and Jenny's freshly made lemonade. (and her cookies were awesome too). The FrenchToast Bake for breakfast was incredible. We enjoyed conversing with Andy and Jenny, and learned many things about the life in DeSmet. This B&B is highly recommended by us.

“GREAT!”

This was a great place to stay for our family of four! Communication was excellent and they confirmed our reservation via e-mail right away. Andrew greeted us upon arrival and Jenny was very helpful answering all my questions about the Ingalls/Wilder families. I was concerned about not having a swimming pool, but the kids had a blast playing games on the front porch! The rooms were clean and the owners are very friendly. Breakfast was awesome! Jenny made a pancake girl for our daughter and a boy for our son. They were both decorated with whipped cream and chocolate chips=) I very much enjoyed my blueberry cheesecake pancakes!
I have to mention we do quite a bit of traveling and usually stay in higher end hotels/ B&B's. This was the cleanest one I have ever seen.

“great historic building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

On a recent trip, I wanted to spend one night at a historic bed and breakfast. We chose the Prairie House Manor, and stayed in the Forever Blossoms room. It had a king sized bed, along with a murphy bed in the main room. There was an smaller attached room with a two-person jacuzzi and a futon. One thing we didn't expect was the bathroom. It was inside of the room, without a full wall. The wall is open at the top, so there isn't a lot of privacy (you can't see in there, but you can hear everything). This bathroom area, with a toilet and shower, is a very small area. The common areas include a playroom, which my girls enjoyed. Breakfast was awesome! The owners are great, and I would stay there again.

“part of our Little House tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

we went to De Smet to visit the Little Town on the Prairie so staying in this B & B which had been "banker Ruth's house" was a part of our tour. We had the Japanese room on the main level. The house has been beautifully restored; the only addition is the breakfast room. The wide verandah has a pool table and games for children. Our room had a hot tub, which we did not use since we were there during the heat wave. The private bathroom and shower had very little counter space but otherwise the room was lovely. It had a small fridge, microwave, and Wifi. There was a key to lock the door to the room. Breakfast menu choices were provided for guests to complete the evening prior. Very friendly hosts.
