Incredible restoration project on the bank Caroline Ingalls was supposed to have held an account. It is an historical treasure lovingly rebuilt by the owners. The area is quiet, although centrally located. The rooms and home are beautifully appointed with historical pieces and photographs. The beds are comfortable and it feels like home. On a three week road trip, home can be a haven on the road. That is this place. Comfy, clean, friendly with a sophisticated appeal, we can't wait for our next chance to stay here.

This is a really neat old building. We stayed in a beautiful suite with three rooms and a loft. It had cable TV, which my kids appreciated, and internet, which I appreciated, and a nice, big bathroom, where everyone could wash off the prairie dust. It was extremely hot in South Dakota when we were there, but the room stayed pretty cool and was a nice retreat from the heat. This was my family's first Bed and Breakfast experience, and it went so well, it will probably not be the last. Breakfast was nice and the room was perfect.

We booked the South Dakota State Fair and could not find a room in Huron. We found the only room within 45 minutes of Huron. Kim and Carl's Heritage House in De Smet. It was perfect and so relaxing. They have a wonderful place and they are wonderful hosts. We will stay there every year we go to the fair. It is out favorite of all. Thank you for making our first trip to South Dakota our most favorite trip we have ever taken.

TAS & LPS-- Indiana

We (mom and two kids) stayed in the Heritage House Bed and Breakfast as part of our visit to the Laura Ingalls Wilder sites in De Smet. We chose the Heritage House and were glad that we did. It is a beautifully restored former bank building. The rooms were comfortable, and immaculately clean. Do not let the fact that it is located on the "main" street of De Smet dissuade you from staying here. It was INCREDIBLY quiet. The main street of De Smet gets virtually no traffic after about 5:00 in the evening. Very peaceful, and happens to be right across the street from where "Pa" had his store front, and also a hop, skip and a jump from the Lofthus store. Price was more than fair, and (of course) included a nice breakfast the next morning. If we have reason to stay here again, I'd definitely make this my choice again. Way more character than a standard hotel room (and note that the only motels in town ARE located on the highway), and really more of a small inn than a house. Nice, nice place.
