For a cheap sleep, this has everything you need: a bed, a grubby shower and some thin towels.

The motel sits stranded alongside the Interstate next to a couple of petrol stations and a dingy restaurant. Yemassee the town is further down the road but doesn't have much to offer.

I received a friendly welcome and had an efficient check-in. The room was clean, but shabby with a bathtub and A/C that were worn but in working order. The electrics were a bit iffy - on climbing into bed, a lamp flickered, so I shut it off lest it start a fire. The loo sometimes struggled to flush. I noticed flood damage to the bottom of the bathroom door. The whole place needs remodelled.

Forget the star system, you can always judge a motel by its loo roll and this one was definitely 1-ply!

This motel is a bit odd. It is sort of in the middle of nowhere. There is a closed restaurant next to it and a small shopping center across the road (and train tracks) that contains another motel and a surprisingly good small restaurant with good home cooking. I thought we were getting a fridge, but was told that I hadn't specifically requested one, even though I thought I had. One lamp didn't work, so the staff member swapped one out with another room. We needed ice for our cooler, but the ice machine was empty and the staff member didn't know when more ice would be delivered. We were told all the fridge rooms were booked, but there were very few cars there in the evening or in the morning when we left, so we were a bit confused about that.
We are not sure we would stay there again. The room was clean, I think, but sort of dark, so who could tell?

The pictures of the clean, well-kept pool must have been from when the pool was brand new. We stayed here Memorial Day weekend. The pool
was disgustingly green. We were told it wasn't open yet. Hmmm, yet it
wasn't drained either. Grass was growing in the sidewalk around the pool. There were bugs in the room. Maid service made the bed and picked up towels but didn't bother to empty trash cans or leave us clean towels. It sounded like a herd of elephants stayed above us. Old mattresses were laying outside. One of the outlets in the room didn't work. It happened to be the one with the alarm clock and bedside lamp already plugged in. Air conditioner didn't work very well. Bath tub faucet dripped. Bath tub had a disgusting built-in rubber matt on the bottom that was filthy. Probably had never seen Clorox.
