“Clean, but spooky....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

We were driving to Pennsylvania from a fast Florida business trip. Why I stopped there, I have no clue. I was driving up I-95 and I was still OK to drive, but it was midnight and I figured, we could get a good night sleep, then start out fresh early. We checked in and expected a flea bit hotel.... on the contrary, the room was clean, which I appreciated. HOWEVER, I felt something weird as soon as I walked to the upstairs part of the hotel. I just FELT something looking at me. When we got in the room, we just flopped into bed. My partner was asleep as soon as he touched the pillow. I layed down and was "irritated", I just felt uncomfortable. I said my prayers ... and heard scratching on the wall and felt something hop on the bed. I freaked out and started to kick my feet, expecting a rat in the room! There was NOTHING. My partner slept soundly. I layed back down and just tried to sleep. I kept hearing noises and felt something in the room. I kept opening my eyes and looking around thinking I was going to see something... nothing. I heard like a low growl coming from the inside of the bathroom and my covers were pulled off of me. I flipped out and ran to turn the lights on in the room and jumped back in bed. I kind of just told IT to leave me alone that I needed some sleep. (I know this sounds hilarious.) I tried to fall asleep, all night long I heard weird noises and even (what it sounded like to me) two cannon blasts. My partner slept soundly all night. In the morning, whatever was in the room was gone. I jumped in the shower and didn't even dry my hair, I just felt very "unwelcomed". I was very nervous and just wanted to get out of there. I wanted to ask the staff if the place was haunted, but it was two forgeign gentlemen and I didnt' want them thinking I was nuts. (LOL) We left the hotel and I noticed that everything was broken down and derelect around it. I'm wondering about the history in the area. When I closed my eyes, I did see a black man's face in my mind's eye, but I thought I was just thinking weird things.... 15 minutes up the road was a whole town of hotels and restaraunts. What the heck made me stay in this place, I have no clue. I am going to look into the history of this area. Now, my interest is peaked. Not a good place to stay for a prolonged visit.... however, it was clean enough for a few hours sleep! (I didn't look at the carpets and stuff.. the bathrooms were clean, the bed was clean..)I was there literally 6 hours and had the weirdest night of my life!

Room Tip: Ask first if the room is haunted!

“Not worth the money saved”

Stayed at this hotel instead of Beaufort to save on money. Gas was so high that it would have been better to pay more at a place closer. We were given a room with only 1 double bed! I even sent an email to make sure I got 2 beds. Was traveling with my teenage daughter . I complained and was told that was what I get for the rate I paid. I had to sleep on the floor. We had a pet and had to pay $5.00 when the website said $3.00. Hotel sits in no man's land. The girl that works at the desk and a male friend kept whispering something to each other which I though was rude and seemed suspicious. Thought at least we would get waffles but the waffle iron was broken. Very little business but I could hear a TV in the room next door. Restuarant next door says closed Mon. - Wed. Seemed a little odd to me. It didn't look like it was ever opened. Pool was closed but I guess opens sometimes in April.

“Keep on Driving!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

It looks ok from the outside and the rate is a steal, but then you worry if someone is going to steal from you while you are there. The walls are so thin you can hear everything...and unfortunately someone was enjoying their evening and my children heard it all. There were alarms going off all night, trucks parked in the lot running idle for about a half an hour at a time all while we were trying to sleep. My room was non-smoking but smelled terrible, not sure if it was a spray trying to cover smoke or what but it smelled so bad my husband slept with his nose covered by his shirt. The beds were very uncomfortable...they had a continental breakfast but we were so annoyed and disgusted by the place we chose not to stay for it. I suggest any one wanting something else in the area, it may be a little more expensive but probably worth the peace of mind.

“Don't go there!”

Stay away! We were attempting to drive straight through to Florida but were forced to stop due to a storm. Bad choice on my part, but all of the drivers needed to get some sleep. The room was tiny and had holes in the walls and the bothroom door, and cracks in the ceiling. Not enough towels and washcloths, but the attendant did get us more quickly. The topper was the toilet that was TOTALLY BLACK INSIDE!

“Comically awful”

Filthy, mildewed, run-down. Train tracks just a few feet away with trains blowing whistles throughout the night. Toilet flush was really weak. Black stains on the pillow case. I did not remove my shoes unless my feet were under the covers.
