La Bastide was BY FAR... The best place I have ever stayed. It was so private and romantic for my husband and I. We woke up to a hot breakfast that had us looking forward to the next morning. (Not to mention the chocolate truffles that were left on our pillows) The dinner at La Bastide's restaurant was OUTSTANDING! The service was incredible. We sat outside on the balcony and got to watch the sunset while eating dinner. The entire staff was so considerate and polite. If you do not wish to stay in the inn, I definately recommend La Bastide's restaurant.

Just returned from SC/NC and La Bastide. Absolutely lovely inn. Each room is decorated differently. We stayed in the room Kevin Costner apparently usually stays in. Extremely comfortable. The bed and bedding were divine. Large bath. Fireplace. View. The service there is excellent. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included each day and was very good. We also ate at the Restaurant two nights and had very memorable meals. Most people staying there are Cliffs property owners or potential Cliffs property owners...it is in the middle of no where. Asheville is about 45 min away. Also good sight-seeing, state parks and visiting the various Cliffs communities was fun but we did alot of driving.

The Inn has a hospitality station on each floor stocked with goodies, coffee, tea, pop and water. You won't go hungry. The small library is comfy with a leather sofa, fireplace, chess set and many books and magazines to peruse. The staff showed us many of the rooms as they became unoccupied...all were decorated beautifully. I would not recommend this inn for small children. We enjoyed the primarily adult atmosphere. One night turn down service included chocolate dipped strawberries! Need I say more!

I loved La Bastide. You would think you are in France as soon as you walk in. The bedding was by far my favorite. We arrived late on a Thursday night and we went to the Biltmore HOuse (only 40 minutes away). When we were leaving they asked if we would like their turn down service. SAY YES! They had the fireplace roaring, candles lit, robes & slippers set out, the music on, and the lights dimmed! My boyfriend had also ordered champange and chocolates to be delivered. If Kevin Costner's suite is avaliable pick it. It has the best views and is the largest. Breakfast is included and was amazing. Everything was made to order. After breakfast we went out on the lawn to play crocket. Then that night we snuggled up and watched several kevin costner dvds which we checked out from the la bastide library!

If you want to be pampered, and yet meet as a company in a small quiet environment, La Bastide fits the bill. Everything was perfect! It was like being in France....but with southern hospitality! The hot cookies in the afternoon were to die for. The staff knew how attentive to be, and yet kept their distance. It was so wonderful, that my husband and I are going there for a vacation!
