I stayed here in Simpsonville while my daughter was at youth camp in Honea Path. I wanted to be nearby because she was just getting over a severe illness; and if she needed me, I didn't want to be three hours away. I have the luxury of being able to take my work with me wherever I go, as long as there is high speed internet available. My mother accompanied me on the trip just to keep me company and to be of assistance should it be needed. Upon arrival, no air conditioning was turned on, of course it was only 94 degrees outside, there were no instructions or guides in the room to inform guests of internet username/passwords, cable channels, message retrieval for phones, time of continental breakfast... Additionally, the room looked nothing like the pictures. It was dark, dank, dingy, and just left a lot to be desired as far as somewhere you would want to stay, especially when paying over $60 a night in a remote town. However, the room was already paid for, and we decided to make the best of it since we are not complainers. The room was labeled as a non-smoking room; however, the second night of our stay, we were awakened by loud voices and music from the room ajoining ours, as well as the smell of cigarette smoke, which nothing was ever done about. After about ten minutes of listening to the drunken behavior from next door at about 4:15 in the morning, I called the front desk, only to be given the run around from the young teenage boy manning the front desk. The police were called, but when our neighbors would not open the door, they wrote their report and left. The next day, I spoke with the manager who apologized profusely for the night shifts behavior, as well as the obnoxious neighbors, and we were offered a new room. When questioned as to why we would have to move our belongings to another room, on another floor at the other side of the hotel, the magagers response was that the girl in the room next to us lived at the hotel and worked there. It was all very disconcerting. When I questioned him about a room refund for the night, he arguably gave me a measly $20 back. Also, My daughter tried to call the day that we moved before I was able to tell her our new room number, and the front desk refused to connect her to our room saying they had to have a rooms number. If I would have known that before I left to come home, heads may have rolled; however, it was their lucky day, she didn't tell me until we were halfway home.
