“TERRIBLE experience with RESORT QUEST at SEABROOK ISLAND PELICAN WATCH VILLA”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2011

The TERRIBLE rating is due to our experience with RESORT QUEST, the property manager, not the owner of Pelican Watch Villa Unit 1330, which we rented for 7 nights in early May 2011.
If you have a desire to pay for a vacation rental amenity and then spend hours of your vacation time waiting for the technician to show up and make repairs so you can use it, this is the place for your next vacation!
Confusion with making reservations with RESORT QUEST and checking-in after 5pm, should have been our sign that RESORT QUEST was NOT customer-service oriented.
On the third day of our stay we encountered a maintenance problem which we called into the after-hours maintenance center. 24 hours later - no response from RESORT QUEST and when we inquired, they reported they had done nothing in 24 hours to try and resolve the maintenance problem. We were informed by a RESORT QUEST manager that is was our responsibility to wait at the unit for the designated half day for the maintenance technician they obtained, which then required staying with the technician another 2.5 hours to get resolution. After 3 days, numerous calls to RESORT QUEST and encountering some unprofessional attitude that this wasn't their problem, we are happy to report, the problem was fixed.
Overall the unit is comfortable and pleasantly decorated. Very quite except for some renovations underway in the next unit. King-size bed was comfortable. There are great views of the river. beach and ocean. We did not utilize the Amenity Card provided by the owner. Some TLC cleaning of the overall unit is definitely needed, especially in the bathrooms.

“Seabrook/Pelican Watch - some maintenance issues, but overall a nice destination”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2009

We have many happy memories with our vacations at Seabrook. This is our family's fourth year at Seabrook /Pelican Watch over a several year time period. We were here last July 2008 and the highlights were seeing the sea turtles "boil" (come out of their covered nest), kayaking, and tours in Charleston. This year is more relaxed with walking, swimming at Seabrook, and shopping at the Tanger Outlet. We like to drive into Charleston and go on tours, shop, and dine.
As with other trip advisor participants, there have been maintenance issues every year with the condos that we rented. The first year was with the air conditioner, a major problem, the second visit with several issues, and the last two years with appliances primarily. It seems that they could better maintain the condos and improve their response time.
There is confusion every year with each condo offering or not offering the amenity card. The booking agent may not offer complete and correct information. It would be easier to spell out the information about the guest amenity cards and related cost specifically with that condo. If rebated, it covers the free, outdoor swimming pool and allows access to the other amenities. The fitness center has a fee of $10 per person/day. Of course, the tennis, horse back riding, and golf are for a fee. The tennis courts have a strict dress code. We are more relaxed and would appreciate a tennis court that has a casual dress code (shirt, shorts, running shoes instead of specifically tennis shoes, etc ) and is family friendly.
We appreciated the trip advisor advice to watch our exact speed especially after we arrived late after a 12 hour drive.
Overall, it is a nice complex and a nice vacation destination.

“Seabrook SC - Pelican Watch & Spinnaker NOT a happy surprise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2009

I have been a regular summer villa renter at Seabrook SC for over 6 years and unfortunately the maintenace of even 'Platinum' units has severely degraded during this time. Types of problems I ran into include disfunctional hot water heaters, filthy air ducts, noisy air conditioners, windows without blinds, and even breakage/shattering of shower doors.

The ResortQuest office used to be open 24hrs with on-site maintenance now it closes at 6pm. They have been working on the pool since last year and it's still not done. I wish they kept up the place properly because I have to say there are some really nice beaches in the area. A real shame.
