I've given this hotel a three star rating simply because I've come to expect more from the Hampton Inn. The price point was $115, but the hotel didn't have the clean feel and small extras I've come to experience with other Hamptons.
To begin with, we reserved a non-smoking room. We were put on the third floor and the first thing we noticed was the prevalent smell of smoke. We called the front desk and were told that the third floor used to be the smoking floor but was recently changed. The room may not have been smoked in for some time, but you could definitely smell it. We were moved to the second floor which was definitely an improvement, but there was a slight musty smell to this room also, but nothing too major. I noticed that the quality of the face towels (thread count) was less than what I've seen at other places. I don't need much byway of accommodation and am quite comfortable staying in a 2 star accommodation as I am a 4 star.....I just want the room to be clean.
On the whole, I feel as if the price point of the hotel was based on the brand and location and less on the amenities and quality / freshness of the rooms. You can't go wrong with this hotel, but improvements can be made.

Thank you for your review you posted. I am the General Manager at this Hampton Inn in Pawleys Island and do like to hear how our guests feel about their stay. I do have to say we hear more good than negative, so I wanted to touch base with you as soon as I saw this post. I personally would have loved to discussed your thoughts before you checked out. We have just converted to an all non smoking hotel, and yes, we will have issues with the formerly smoking rooms until we can fully remove any left over smoke smell. I do apologize for this.
Our guest room amenities are the same as any Hampton due to Hamptons high standards and will only allow us to purchase the best of quality items. I am sorry you didn't feel this way.
