“Wait staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I was blown away by the Southern hospitality in the lobby of this hotel. George Ann Jones, who is in charge of the breakfast, went out of her way to make sure her guests were satisfied. She passed out bottled water for us to take on the road. She helped a man with his waffle. She had such a pleasant disposition and tried to make conversation with others. She had a smile on her face the entire time that we had breakfast. The desk manager, Tiffany Leaf was also very friendly.

“Lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

The room was cleanier than several we looked at before making our choice. The room was nice & clean, great atmosphere and the staff was amazing. The clerk offered the best customer service I have seen in a long time. We would like to give Ms. Arina(nursing student) a 100. She was very pleasant and it meant a lot to us and we will stay at the Hampton Inn Orangeburg every time we are in town. That will be quite often because we have a son at SCS...Thanks Hampton Inn Organeburg

Room Tip: The entrance and surrondings were inviting. The atmosphere was attractive...

“Recently remodeled but not a new Hampton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Overall, this place is just fine. The rooms and public areas have obviously been remodeled fairly recently, but you need to understand it's an older hotel. The rooms are considerably smaller, and the room entrances are from the exterior rather than from an interior hallway. There is no way to access the lobby and breakfast area without walking around the side of the building. On the other hand, the bed was quite comfortable and the whole place was as clean as could be. Our room was very quiet. It was also nice to have the car only about 10 feet away from our room door. This made for easy unloading and loading. So, the older design has its good and bad points. Especially for an overnight stay, you really couldn't ask for anything more, especially at the price. The breakfast was the usual Hampton Inn fare. If you stay away from their over done scrambled egg concoctions, the rest of the breakfast bar is ok and is very well presented. The people here keep the area clean and well stocked. The staff was very pleasant. We'd have no qualms about staying here again.

“Dont Expect This To Be A Real Hampton, EXTERIOR ENTRANCES”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Checked into a room to find a "suspicious white liquid" all over the chair. Appeared to have been a prior male guest that sat in the chair - leaving an 8+ inch long/2-3 inch wide white stain. Disgusting - immediately went back to front desk to insist on a Clean Room. Second room was much cleaner and better maintained.

Not a horrible property physically but not what HiltonHonors/Hampton members expect. Please note that the entrances are outside around the building in a questionable area. I would catorgarize this as a low end property for a Hampton. This area seems to have the corner on low quality/cheap converted old hotels into Hamptons. Evidently Hampton has severely lowered their standards. We stayed in another area near here on our way to Florida - Richmond Hill Hampton - it was horrible. This place is about 1 step above. IT IS A MOTEL - Reminded me of an old econolodge/local motel remodeled with Hampton furniture & linens.

A pig in a suit is still a pig - this is the same. A little paint and a little furniture does NOT make a nice HOTEL. Staff is nice & helpful.

Would not recommend staying here nor eating at Fatz next door.

Dear MinorityWhiteMale,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel on Tripadvisor. We appreciate guest feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve our guest experience.
I sincerely apologize for the fact that you felt your stay here at the Hampton Inn was less than satisfactory. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our hotel and apologize that your stay did not live up to those high standards.
I am also sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the exterior entrances to our guest rooms. Many of our frequent travelers find this to be convenient because it provides easy access to their vehicle throughout the duration of their stay.
Thank you again for telling us about your experience here at the Hampton Inn Orangeburg. I have shared your concerns with our team members so that we can be better prepared in the future. We appreciate your compliments regarding our hotel staff and customer service, and hope that you will give us another try in the future. Please feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions or comments.

Sincerely,

Jason Skoler, GM
