This is the first trip we had taken to Avista and it def. will not be the last. It was recommended to us by a friend who makes it a regular vacation spot. We decided to drop tradition for Thanksgiving and runaway to the beach....excellent choice. Who wouldn't want fresh seafood and no dishes to do!
The Avista was heaven from the start! The resort was very easy to find. Upon arrival you park under the resort and head to the checkin desk. But it was very hard to go inside as on our November arrival it was unusually sunny and warm. The pools were sparkly clean and we had to stop on the boardwalk to snap a family photo before we even got checked in. The front desk was manned by polite accommodating employees. After receiving our keys we unloaded the car and parked it across the street in the parking garage. Elevators were in good repair and the wait was never long.
Entering our room not only did it smell clean and fresh, it was clean and fresh. We had a room on the 4th floor overlooking the pool and ocean. Awesome view. That afternoon we spotted dolphins.
Pools were well maintained and never dirty during our visit. There are two outdoor hot tubs and lazy river and outdoor pools. We did have the luxury of warm days and tanned by the pool while we were there. In the evening we took advantage, of what I believe is, of the largest indoor lazy river in a resort I have ever seen. A large hot tub was available as well. Pool towels were easily found around the pool decks.
My daughter and I did order hamburgers and grilled cheese sandwiches and had a picnic while watching the last wedding on the beach of their season. It was simple and beautiful. The wedding coordinator and photographer seemed to work seamlessly together.
I did try the bar out and the mixed drinks were great. They had a street view if you just wanted to hangout along with pool table and tvs to entertain yourselves with.
I would recommend this place to my best friends and plan on returning soon.
The only service I would like to have had that they didn't offer was a spa massage. I had to go off the resort for that and I won't recommend it because it was subpar. The poolside bar was also closed as it was off season, but this was a busy holiday week and i suspect enough people on site to keep it busy.
Our room was across from a main electrical station so I def would not stay in the same room. I kept hearing a humming all night that sounded like a vacuum cleaner.
Beds were comfy (except the pullout couch where my 18yr old son tried to sleep). My daughter slept in the Murphy bed with no problems. Kitchen area was plenty and also had washer/dryer in closet.
In the end our experience was awesome and will def. go back.
Room Tip: try to get a room away from elevator, electrical rooms.
