This was our first stay in a Wyndham resort and I am not overly impressed. The condo itself had recently been remodeled so it was clean and nice. The carpets, furniture, drapes had all been replaced and walls painted. It looked to have older cabinets, countertops and tile so I don't think they replaced those, but they were not in bad condition. There are two issues I had with the condo....1) it was small. Probably only 500 -600 sq ft for a 1 br with little storage except the br closet. 2) we had a single balcony. This is one of 4 rooms in the resort to have a single balcony while all others had a double (balcony from bedroom and living room). Seems that many of the people who stay here have deeds to a specific room and date so those that do not own here will get these half balcony rooms.
On the plus side, the view of the beach from the balcony was spectacular. This makes up for the other issues in my mind...afterall that is why we are there.
I was leery when I first pulled into the resort as there is no main entry or anything. It is just a parking garage on the 1st level. To get from your room to the pool/beach you will walk thru the garage each and every time you leave your condo. just does not seem welcoming, but this is an older resort so there is not much you can do about it now. The advantage to this is that we were on the 2nd floor and could litterally park outside our door to the condo. This made unpacking and packing a snap.
The pools are fairly disappointing at first. I posted some pics, but 85% of the main pool is indoors and a very small (hot tub size) portion is outside. While I at first did not like this it grew on me as the week went on as I have two small children and it was a nice change to get out of the sun for a while to swim. Still, if you like to sit around the pool on your vacation this is not the place for you. Another thing about the indoor pool was that it never seemed crowded. At most there would be 8-10 people in it and often times it was just my family. Mind you we were there on 4th of July week and the place was booked so I can't imagine it ever gets very busy.
The activities offered by the resort were nice. The kids really enjoyed them. We took part in a watermelon eating contest, balloon toss, skittle hunt, hermit crab races, ice cream sundae social and others. The activities folks were very nice and the kids looked forward each day to the events they had planned.
By the way, we did the sales presentation and did not feel highly pressured or anything. We were in and out in less than an hour and for our time we were given two $25 restaurant gift cards and two tickets to Ripleys Aquarium (a definite must at least once). I thought it was fair compensation and would do it again if offered.
Also, just remembered...the high speed internet was not the best. Connections seemed to drop within the room a lot, but worked on the balcony great. I have ATT service and it was nonexistent inside the rooms...would not even work on the balcony had to go to other side of the hotel (parking garage) to get reception.
