“Ok..Clean and Friendly staff”

We stayed at this property for one night during a last minute trip to NMB to spend time with my parents who were staying in a timeshare at the Wyndham next door. (which was VERY VERY NICE).

We got a great rate of $59 for the night. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly! The view from the 4th floor room 402 was great. We stayed in a one bedroom unit and while it was very small, it was ok for my husband and I as our children stayed with our parents next door.

The bedroom was very small and not much room on the side close to the wall to walk or get to the bed. The bed was comfortable. The kitchen was small but very equipped with pots/pans utensils etc, which all looked new.

We did not use the pool or hot tub.

The property is old and the elevators show the age more than anything.. However, they are renovating and the rooms will all be updated. So if you can get passed the exterior being dated, and the rooms being quite small. I think you will enjoy this property. I would consider this property again for a long weekend. Not sure I would want to spend a full week here with my two very active sons.

All in all- It was clean, no bugs sitings on our trip and we would consider this property again.

“I love this place - everything about it”

My husband and I have owned a unit on the 2nd floor for 27 years and bought another on the 3rd floor two years ago for our growing family. This is a vacation place that our adult daughters have loved since they were 1 and 3 years old. Now our grandchildren will be able to play on the same beach and learn to swim in the pools that their mothers did. All the units were completely renovated within the last two years and the staff has consistently been wonderful for all these years. The beach is close, beautiful and clean and 99% of the rooms overlook the ocean. This place is home for us every June for a week (Sun-Sun) and all of us look forward to going every year. If you want big and loud and impersonal, don't come here but if you want a family-oriented atmosphere that is respectful, quiet, intimate, and oh so fun, this is the place for you!

“Restful, peaceful, just what we needed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

We both needed a quiet restful vacation away from the noise and traffic of DC and we got it. Peppertree is not a high-rise, multi-pooled goliath at the beach, but it was bery nice. We were on the first floor, and walked right onto a grassy area with lounge chairs, grills and a look over the dunes to the beach. We could be on the beach in 30 seconds. The apartment (which sleeps four) would be small for a family, but it was more than adequate for the two of us. The mini-kitchen was the size of a kitchen in a small apartment. It was functional, clean, with all that you needed to cook most meals. (And we did cook most meals.)

Everything was clean and the only minor problem was finding a small silverfish (insect) in the bedding of the bunk bed (which we were using as an extra blanket). Ten miniutes after letting housekeeping know the apartment was sprayed, the problem linen (from the bunk beds) were taken away, and all was fine for the rest of the week.

The Wyndham next door is more elegant with a lots more to do, but truthfully, I think we got the quiet, solitude, conventient and peace that we needed for a restorative vacation. Although I'm going to try to get into the Wyndham (where my time-share should be), I would have no problem going back to Peppertree. Myrtle Beach (after Labor Day) was mellow, quiet, and fun. Peppertree is centrally located, close to what you need, and driveable to where you want to go. WELL DONE.

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2010

We were impressed with the new management for this facility. There have been problems over the years, but it looks like most of these have been addressed. Our unit had a new flat screen tv, was clean, and provided a nice relaxing view of the ocean. There were no loud noises or other parties going on that disturbed our sleep. several families were playing "corn hole throw" on the lawn, there was a gas grill for evening meals (if we prefered that over the full kitchen in the room) and the pool had plenty of chairs and umbrellas. There is only one hot tub and it's by the indoor pool but it serves the purpose. Very minited organized kids activities, but our kids, (age 4 and 9) spent most of their time in the pool and once the beach. And it is a block away from the Od arcade, ice cream shops, etc. Daily linen exchange is from 9 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and the staff were always nice and helpful. I have read some of the bad reviews on this place, and they all seem pretty fair, but I know there is a BIG difference in this place from 2007 to 2010. I also know they have some GREAT weekly rates on units beginning in September. I talked with Julie - the manager and was impressed with her attitude and concern for the guests. If you want all the fancy frills, this is not your place to stay. But if you want peace, quiet, relaxation and value, I highly recommend Peppertree By The Sea.

“Relaxing, fun and very family oriented. Kids' Paradise.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2010

My mother (68yrs), my husband (36), me (33) and our 5 year old daughter and 2 year old son just got back from Peppertree yesterday and I just came to this site to look for availibility in August for our next vacation! We had the best time! We stayed in a two bedroom overlooking the pool. The room was clean and decorated very tastefully - as you would expect a beach condo to be decorated with "island flair." The master bedroom was spacious. A highlight was that it had it's own balcony overlooking the pool and beach. There was a balcony off of the living room as well. The views morning, noon, and night, were just beautiful. One downfall of the balconies, however, is that they very only about 3.5 feet wide. You can sit in a stackable chair out there but have to face left or right rather than facing the ocean. Some stools out there might have been a better fit. We were told they cut down on the size of these balconies to increase the size of the master bedroom and living rooms.

The kitchen was clean and bright. The appliances were definitely not "top-of-the-line" but they certainly served their purpose.

The spare bedroom was small and "cave-like" but my mother didn't spend a lot of time back there anyway and she claimed it was easier for her to sleep in a little longer than usual b/c it stayed nice and cool and dark. The bathroom off of this bedroom was small and had a nice, clean stand-up shower.

Outdoors is where this place shines brightest! The outdoor pool area was wonderful - large clean pool along with a great kiddie pool. And there were TONS of kids - from around 1 yr - 14/15 yrs old. And they were all having a blast entertaining one another and all were very well-mannered. We had a lot of fun playing with all of them and meeting other parents/grandparents. The pool gets shaded in the afternoon (around 4pm) because the sun drops behind the gargantuan hotel next door. This is good and bad - bad b/c it gets a little cool after the sunshine is gone but good b/c it gives the kids skin some relief after being in the blistering hot sun since 9am.

The resort had a cook-out Wednesday down by the pool which was nice. The activities director rocks. My 5 year old loved her and enjoyed all of the creative activities she came up with each day. Everything from a manicure and tea party to decorating cupcakes and tie-dying t-shirts. We went back and forth from the pool to the beach. Caught some fiddler and hermit crabs down at the beach and found too many sharks teeth to count.

Indoor pool and hottub were nice but it was hot in there and the chlorine fumes were potent!

There is a large inflatable water slide on the beach a couple of walks down that was a crowd favorite ($3/slide or 4 for $10). Along with a small pavilion that had a few rides (train, merry-go-round, ferris wheel, teacups, swings, tilt-a-whirl, etc.), arcade games, and an ice cream shop.

The only real negatives I have to say about this place are: DO NOT PARK IN THE SAND LOT ON HILLSIDE DRIVE! I had to park there this year and my car became INFESTED with small black ants. Apparently my mother parked there last year and the same thing happened to her. Which leads to my second complaint: when I called the front desk to complain the guy was so unconcerned and nonchalant I wanted to grab him through the phone. I do wonder if they have so many complaints about it they have just turned a deaf ear to it?

Anyway, the pros definitely out-weighed the cons and we can't wait to go back.
