“Nice but still avoid”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

While this motel was clean and the rooms pretty much average, they offered the basics - bed, bath and table with chairs. Internet was okay/. No complimentary breakfast or coffee in the morning. Found out from one of the local businesses we work with that at night , the "lot lizards" come out (prostitutes! really!!!) The laborers we hired locally also informed us that the area is not a very "healthy environment". Shootings the week before across the street, prostitutes in the parking lots and drugs. Sadly, a troubled area. Too bad cos the motel while it wasn't the best, it was still sufficient for a one night stay.

“Good room, good service, great rates!”

This Motel 6 is a nice motel right off the interstate. Several restaurants nearby to choose from and a easy drive into the historic district. Much better rates than trying to stay in the historic area or the beach. The front desk staff was nice and my room was clean. Not much amenitites, but that is ok. I did see police officers there, but I rather see them and feel safe than not have them there at all. Overall a nice stay for a good price.

“NASTY”

I have stayed at many hotels/motels across the country and this ranks number 2 worst of the worst. Flying bugs, green pool, yellow stained walls, sink seperating from wall, air worked poorly, and did not dare go barefoot. Checked out soon after discovery of problems. Staff was great in refund and is the only good point.

“unsafe and not near attractions”

We stayed here as a stop over whilst on the way to Washington D.C, having stayed at many budget hostels on our 7 week journey across the states, we thought one more wouldn't hurt - we'd been mostly pleased and surprised by the standards of the Super 8 chains etc. This hotel offered only coffee as breakfast, no tea, no juice, no food! You had to pay for WIFI which was an awful signal. Even though we'd paid for the hotel in advance, they tried charging us again!

We thought we would take a bus to the centre of charleston but as the location was so poor the taxi would have been extortionate. You're basically on a freeway and if you haven't got a car you're stuck!

We noticed people driving up to this hotel and knocking on doors (blatently not guests, suspected drug dealings going on) we received a phone call to our room and someone claimed to have the wrong number. at 3am when we were fast asleep we received another call which shocked us and nobody answered, felt very unsafe. Not to mention voices outside of our room where people hung out all night long.

The actual rooms were small, stained bedsheets etc and seemed overall poorly maintained. The pool was a strange colour and had lots of debris in it, clearly not maintained. DO NOT STAY HERE! go to the Super 8's instead (similar price)

“A quick, easy place to get in and out.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2011

My reservation went well and quick. They don't charge you if you have to cancel last minute. They also do not take a deposit. The room at first glance was "oh. this is it. no fridge, no bath, but it'll do since were not going to be in here long during the day. At least we have TV. And were near a waffle house and an IHOP, and the interstate is RIGHT THERE."
First and foremost, if you sleep lightly, this place has planes and jets and helicopters flying over all hours. I, sleep like a rock, so this wasn't a problem for me.
Honestly it wasn't a bad place to stay, the room was vacuumed, the bathroom was clean and that was all there was to it. Beds were pretty comfortable for a Motel 6, although we only slept on the sheets because they seemed to be the only ones that smelled clean. And the comforters had cigarette holes in it. I dont think those have been washed in a while. But all in all, it was a neat little hole in the wall place to stay when you are traveling on a whim.
The ice machine was clean and the snack machines were stocked.
The amenities were only a bar of soap and towels, bare minimum! Not even shampoo!
There is free coffee in the mornings, but the time is not specified anywhere and perhaps a small sitting area would be nice; maybe include tiny muffins or juice or something.
The location for us was great, we could hop right on the interstate and we were 20 minutes away from Folly, so it was the perfect thing for us.
We stayed 2 nights and it was under 100$. ( AWESOME!)
I liked the rates the best and our office person Dee, and the housekeeper Claudia took care of our room, which she kept very neat.
Overall, stay here if you want a nifty place to stay in terms of cost efficiency and location.
