“Disappointed!!!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2009

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I've never stayed at a "bad" Comfort Inn before so I was shocked to find this one. The room really needed a "good" cleaning. The room had a smell and appeared gloomy in addition to dirty. We only had 1 bar of soap, washcloth, and towel for two people. We weren't the only room with the same problems. I heard another person asking for washcloths/towels, but were told that the front desk could not get such supplies (this was 9 pm).
We went there for the price ($79/night) and expectation that they would uphold the ususal standards of the Comfort Inn chain.....one night was too many.
We decided it would be worth paying $30 more a night to stay elsewhere.
Suggest everyone avoid this hotel. Hope they get under new management ASAP and get their act straightened up.

“Fair at best”

For a last minute beach/shopping trip to Charleston, we were searching for an inexpensive motel for one night and chose this motel as it has a pool, breakfast and the most reasonable rate.
Having stayed in the area before, the location is fantastic-just off the highway, across from the Tanger Outlets and very close to Wal-Mart and several other stores and restaurants.
Check in was very fast and efficient and Melissa, the front desk clerk, was very pleasant.
On the way to our room, we noticed that all the outside trash cans were overflowing, with garbage on the ground.
Our room was a basic double bedded room, clean, but in need of fresh paint. The only sink was inconveniently located outside the bathroom. The small bathroom had no mirror, fan, or outlet which was not helpful as I was trying to blow-dry my hair the next morning without waking the rest of the family. When we arrived at the room, although there were four of us, there were only two sets of towels. I stopped at the front desk, Melissa gave me more bath towels (which were thin and TINY), and said she would put the smaller towels in the dryer and call us when they were ready, which she did.
The room was equipped with a hairdryer, iron, ironing board, and fridge and microwave. We noticed that the refrigerator never was very cool; upon check-out, a new clerk informed me that the wall switch needed to be on to keep the power running, this fact should be told to everyone at the time of check- IN.
The outside pool was small, and had a good supply of chairs, but the pool towels were TINY, not much bigger than a hand towel.
An expanded continental breakfast included a Belgian Waffle Maker, Danish, biscuits, (all very good), mini muffins and bagels (stale), as well as boxed cereal and whole fruit.
The juices were VERY watery and my husband didn't care for the coffee.
I should say now that we are not picky people and I often doubt some negative reviews that I read as being too picky. But this motel honestly needs some work.
We have stayed at the Quality Suites three doors down and HIGHLY recommend it, a suite with two completely separate rooms, a beautiful atrium, and fantastic full breakfast
buffet. My family had wanted to stay there, but as I said, we were just looking for an inexpensive one night stay.

“opened the door and blown away by the mildew smell>>>>>>>>>>>”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2009

the smell came from the floor being a bit damp and the sheets being put on to the bed a little damp and covering them up with out being dry. The sheets looked like they had not been washed bc they had pin marks on them and some stains. Thank Jah for cell phones bc the phone in our room did not work. we didnt get any new sheets for an hr and the front desk lady sprayed our room to suppress the smell a bit. The ceiling had cob webs hanging from the ceilings.(which comes from spiders of course and dust collects on them) how about a spider was smashed on the wall dead but i could tell it was a spider. So i am horrified of spiders tell you so i did not go to sleep will. from now on if someone i know for sure has not stayed there or view the room in person my self i am not booking the room. period.......................................DONT U DO IT EITHER..................

“Good hotel - I'd stay here again”

This is a good hotel for the price. They had a great little, southern style breakfast that my family enjoyed for 3 straight days. Unlike other hotels we stayed at, the food never ran out and the hotel was pretty full. I was impressed at how the staff continually re-filled the food and beverages. We probably saved a least $100 by eating in each morning. The rooms were very clean and the hotel staff were very responsive and professional to all my concerns. They were eevn willing to upgrade our room to a suite if they couldn't locate us a King with a sofa bed. Every concern was addressed immediately. Lastly, my teeneager was pleased especially with being able to enjoy the pool every evening.

If you like to shop, then you'll enjoy the Tanger Outlets that are in walking distance to the hotel. That was the highlight of our last day in Charleston. Besides, you're only a few miles from historic civil war memorial submarine, the Hunley, and downtown Charleston Harbor is only 6 miles away on 26 East.

“True Southern Hospitality and staff that goes the extra mile!”

Whether you are in on biz or know someone who is off to Charleston, SC, I recommend staying at Comfort Inn Coliseum should you need a place to simply hang your hat & looking to economize on your lodging. It's not far from airport at all, and not a long drive from historic downtown Charleston! GM Marlissa Storey played a personal hand in making sure I was comfortable and accomodated. W/ true southern hospitality thriving within all who are under Marlissa's lead, you will be warmly welcomed & ever so proudly accommodated! Director of Sales, Martha, even gave me wonderful tips on different places to visit during my free time and played a hand in arranging a most enjoyable horse drawn carriage ride/tour through Charleston!!! I'll be back!!
