For a last minute beach/shopping trip to Charleston, we were searching for an inexpensive motel for one night and chose this motel as it has a pool, breakfast and the most reasonable rate.
Having stayed in the area before, the location is fantastic-just off the highway, across from the Tanger Outlets and very close to Wal-Mart and several other stores and restaurants.
Check in was very fast and efficient and Melissa, the front desk clerk, was very pleasant.
On the way to our room, we noticed that all the outside trash cans were overflowing, with garbage on the ground.
Our room was a basic double bedded room, clean, but in need of fresh paint. The only sink was inconveniently located outside the bathroom. The small bathroom had no mirror, fan, or outlet which was not helpful as I was trying to blow-dry my hair the next morning without waking the rest of the family. When we arrived at the room, although there were four of us, there were only two sets of towels. I stopped at the front desk, Melissa gave me more bath towels (which were thin and TINY), and said she would put the smaller towels in the dryer and call us when they were ready, which she did.
The room was equipped with a hairdryer, iron, ironing board, and fridge and microwave. We noticed that the refrigerator never was very cool; upon check-out, a new clerk informed me that the wall switch needed to be on to keep the power running, this fact should be told to everyone at the time of check- IN.
The outside pool was small, and had a good supply of chairs, but the pool towels were TINY, not much bigger than a hand towel.
An expanded continental breakfast included a Belgian Waffle Maker, Danish, biscuits, (all very good), mini muffins and bagels (stale), as well as boxed cereal and whole fruit.
The juices were VERY watery and my husband didn't care for the coffee.
I should say now that we are not picky people and I often doubt some negative reviews that I read as being too picky. But this motel honestly needs some work.
We have stayed at the Quality Suites three doors down and HIGHLY recommend it, a suite with two completely separate rooms, a beautiful atrium, and fantastic full breakfast
buffet. My family had wanted to stay there, but as I said, we were just looking for an inexpensive one night stay.
