Even at "free", this place is overpriced. A year ago we stayed here for a couple of nights and it was nasty. We requested a refund for one night, which was refused. Instead, they comped us two nights in the future. Giving this place the benefit of the doubt, we tried it again. Nothing's changed, except maybe there is a bit more mold/mildew in the bathroom. To stay on a completely non-smoking floor, this place is REEKS of cigarettes. There was even a cigarette burn on the blanket. The suite is a nice touch--plenty of sitting room, two TVs, a fridge and microwave. The furniture itself looks nice, but on close inspection is pretty dirty. There was trash under the bed (although the bed itself is pretty comfortable). The bathroom (room 107) was just gross. There is mildew all over the place. Apparently someone broke the top of the toilet, so they replaced it with whatever they could find--it didn't fit. We saw a few spiders and another bug, but being on the ground floor, it might be impossible to keep them out. The walls are thin, and if my spanish was better, I could understand what the people next door were saying.

On the plus side, the free breakfast is a nice touch, and had a lot of variety. Also, the staff is quite friendly. There's free internet. Still, after one night here and an asthma attack from the cigarette smoke, we checked out and found another hotel. If cleanliness and upkeep aren't important, and you smoke or enjoy the smell, this place will probably be suitable. Otherwise, I would suggest staying away--at any price.

Overall this is a pretty decent hotel about 10-15 mins from historic Charleston. The rooms were extermely spacious, with a bedroom separate from the living room area. The hot breakfast was very nice, the cooks will make omelettes, plenty of to-go items too. Hotel is convenient to a number of restaurants and is across the street from the Tanger outlets.

I read the reviews and I was a little worried about staying here but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was wonderful. The room was aged but still great! We stayed with our two one year olds, a 9 year old, and our 15 year old. The hotel was definitely kid friendly. I did not smell smoke upon entering the hotel as posted by another person. We stayed in room#118. The rooms are so big. You don't feel like you are on top of each other all the time. We would definitely stay here again. Don't hesitate to book a room here. I think you will be pleased. Good luck! Oh, the Tanger Outlet is right accross the road. We had fun shopping.

My husband and I have stayed at lots of hotels but this was terrible. We did not feel safe because when you drive into the parking lot there were two homeless people sitting outside. There were alot of kids there with schools still not sure what that was about but they were so loud I slept with ear plugs all night. While unloading the car people were looking at us from the balcony and that of course never made me feel safe. I kept getting up all night and checking my car. The front desk staff was very rude you ask them a question and they would rather talk to each other. I am a person who never likes to say anything to management so I do reviews and tell my friends instead. This place is VERY HARD to find!! We will pay more next time to stay downtown instead of so far out. Stay away from this place!!
