“Great hotel, inconvenient location”

This is a lovely hotel; the staff is excellet and really extremely helpful, the rooms are in good shape, and it's fairly quiet. However, it is extremely far from both the airport and the historic district. I somehow ended up booked here instead of the HIE in the historic district and it was beyond inconvenient. Granted, Northwoods Mall and serveral restaurants (Carrabas, Olive Garden, etc) are within walking distance but that's not why I flew to Charleston so it was a bit disappointing, esp considering I did not rent a car. I took a taxi from the airport and that was around a 20 minute drive and a small fortune. The concierge told me of a bus I could take to and from the historic district but due to the neighborhoods it passed through, that was only an option for day light hours. It was also a little time consuming. Inconveniences aside, though, I did enjoy my stay here. It was nice to be able to walk over to the mall or go to dinner and walk right back to my hotel. I was still able to spend a decent amount of time in the historic district, though not as much as I would have liked. If I was ever visiting North Charleston (instead of the historic district), I would definitely stay here again.

“Excellent stay... once you find it”

I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn North, Charleston, SC. The hotel was a little hard to find. It is located behind the Arby's next to Charleston Southern University. But once you find it it was worth the search. The front desk crew was very efficient and friendly. Check-in was painless and they are very responsive to special requests(extra pillows, room location). I have been very concerned about the highly publicized bed-bug problem, so I just about tear the bed apart before I get into it. This hotel was sparkling clean.
One problem - it is a long way from Downtown Charleston, but it is convenient to the Aiirport and the Air Force Base. I plan on making this my regular stopping place when I return in the future.

“Customer Service = Oustanding`”

I have worked in the hospitality industry for 5 years and Cheryl at the Front Desk is one of the best customer service reps I have ever seen. She is a true asset to any company.

“Great hotel- but not if you want to visit the Historic District.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2010

Somehow managed to book the Charleston North hotel instead of the Historic District one. It's new, very clean, nice people, good breakfast- but 30 minutes out of historic Charleston, and with the nightmare of driving and parking in the District, I would spend the extra money and stay right there in the future.

“Good, Comfortable and Clean Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2009

My husband and I really enjoyed staying at this hotel when we visited Charleston recently. It was very clean and comfortable to stay in when we came back from a full day of sightseeing. I can't complain about anything that had to do with the hotel.

The breakfast was probably what you always find in a Holiday Inn Express, and it was very good. For a free breakfast, you get a lot of variety and almost anyone should be satisfied.

The hotel had a fitness center and refrigerator in the room which is handy for us. There was also a washer and dryer on site (clean) that we took advantage of while there.

The only issue I have with the hotel is that it is a bit far from Charleston. It's fine if you just go in and out for daytime touring. However, I think it would be fun to stay right in Charleston (it's an incredible city) to take advantage of the restaurants and night time events without having to worry about parking a car.
