“Go across the street to the Days Inn”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2007

Should have read the reviews.
This hotel is basically a construction zone. They have torn down half the hotel and are replacing it. The pool is gone. The lobby in the pictures is gone.
Had a large group, so needed 5 rooms: All had at least one of the following: Phone didn't work, plumbing didn't work, dirty, air conditioner had entire top missing exposing moving fan.
The manager did agree to give one room free after one group had to try three different rooms to find one even pretending to be clean. Also, the manager did get us some better breakfast selections after we complained about that.
Choice Hotels Customer Service indicated that we should have expected lower quality from EconoLodge, but this is rediculous.
The Days Inn across the street gave us a "walk in" rate 75cents per room per night more than this hotel gave us on an internet rate.

“Worst Experience Ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2007

This was definatly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I was in Chareston the1st of May and needed a place to stay for the night. My two friends and I were looking for something not to expensive and we found this place.... If the past reviews havent convinced you to avoid this place, read on........

First, we pull in to the parking lot.. looked like a typical hotel... my friend and I went into the front office and the man at the desk appeared to be training the woman working with him. Both these two people went out of their way to be nice to us so we agreed to stay ($52 a night for 2 double beds + tax). As my friend was paying for the room, I look over her shoulder to see a man walking through the parking lot w. a 12 pack of beer. Should have known right than what we got our sevles into...

We than pull our car around the back where our room was (2nd floor) to find the entire back side was full of Hispanic men. Being 3 19 yr. old females, this was expecially scary for us. The moment we step out they all start yelling "CHICA!!!... HEY CHICA"... They continued to yell and stare at us until we get up to the 2nd floor.. where they than walk out into the parking lot an watched which room we went into.. by this point, id had enough..

I go to the front desk and was moved to the front of the hotel.. the man reassured us that we would be just fine. After this point, heres what happened:

*Construction site right infront of hotel.. which contunined the ENTIRE night.. Dump trucks in and out constantly....

*Paper thin walls- our room was conjoined with a wooden door that could easily be broken into

*At 3 AM phone rings in our room, it was one of the Hispanic men asking for my name (they knew it cuz of the tag on the front of my car).. they had likely called each room until someone by my name answered.. then he hung up on me. This worried us because they knew what room we were in.

*I slept with my peper spray the whole night-enough said

*Room had a lot of mold... everywhere

*Urine on tolite seat

I could continue to go on and on but those were the main things. DO NOT stay here.. go elsewhere!!

“Disturbing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2006

We stayed for one night, this is all it took. There was an unmade bed, Only one towel one wash rag. No coffee or filter. I went to the office I was given the coffeee and the filter, but when it was time to make coffee there was no coffee cups. No soap in the room also. The T.V did not work unless you plug it in. The remote comes when you check in, the first one id not work, But when it came to turning off the TV, you had to get up and unplug it again. I feel what took the whole cake was, I open the drawer for the Yellow pages which was not in the drawer, but beside the bible was a open condom. Yes I said Condom. We reported this to the office and they said that they did not believe us. I feel I should get a refund for the discusting way this room was.

“Disgusting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2005

Unfortunately, I didn't see the previous review of this "motel" until afterward. Things haven't changed in two years. The room I saw stank of rotting carpet, the ceiling over the shower was hanging down about 2 inches from water damage, mildewed and rotting, and there appeared to be dry vomit on the carpet and baseboards. Take your chances here.

“What A Dump!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2003
15
people found this review helpful

My wife and I had the displeasure of staying at this run down facility 6 miles north of Charleston, SC in June 2003. We were forced to stay here because all the hotels and motels in the area were full. The place is literally a dump in need of many repairs. The rooms are filthy and the bathrooms still have the same fixtures that George Washington used. The maids consisted of the owners daughter and wife. They were overworked and could not provide adequate cleaning. The carpets and tile were soiled and stained. Each room has a sliding glass window, which cannot be locked or secured unless you place a stick of wood in the track of the window frame. The motel manager refused to provide the necessary piece of wood needed to secure the window, so I drove to Lowes hardware and purchased a 1"x2"x36" piece of oak and had it cut down to fit the track of the window. The tub and sink in several units were stopped up, so we had to change rooms. We changed rooms three times before we found a room that was suitable. The motel advertised a free breakfast, which consisted of stale donuts, stale hot coffee, and hot juice. The container that the donuts were purchased in was left on the counter top by mistake. The packaging indicated that the donuts were purchased at the local Sam's Club Warehouse one week earlier. Each morning that I approached the front desk to complain to the manager, several other guest were already there for the same reason. Do yourself a favor and never stay at this motel. If you do, you will need a strong stick to secure the window, a giant bottle of Draino and at least three cans of Lysol spray.
