My husband, our daughter and myself needed a weekend away, so we booked a room at The Palace Resort. The Resort is old and very run down. The rooms had a strong odor to them. The walls were horrible with markings and holes. The elevators only worked about a fourth of the time we were there and there are 23 floors. The have a conceirge person who rides the elevators, BUT she will not stop on a floor and pick you up if she is on her way down. There was NO ice machine. The sheets and bedding were dirty. The bathtub had obviously not been throughally cleaned. There were dirty dishes left in the dishwasher. The "FREE WIFI"....well was non-exisitent. The assistant manager on duty was extremely RUDE. These are just a few of our encounters with this resort. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Had stayed there for 9 nights as recommended by a friend at work. We found it was a good budget idea to go there for holiday in a condo way of renting a room, including full kitchen, stove, dishwasher, utensils, etc. It was clean in the room but many things needed to be fixed as a big plastic circle around shower / bath faucet that was hanging, faucet was loose and noisy, no plug for the bathtub, asked for one at the office and at the maid but no one came to bring one, we had to be imaginative with plastic bag and bottle of juice's cap to hold water and wash our children... There was like 5 or 6 spatulas in the drawer but no ladle to serve soup, 6 glasses but no one of the same model. The sofa bed was worn-out and all 3 pillows covers holding with pins. Sofa mattress was worn-out and soft. The main bed's mattress was firm and we can felt springs through it. The view was amazing over the 15th story's balcony. The main swimming pool not cleaned from sand daily and don't go there for the exercise room, they should close it as there is only one exercise machine "all in one" crappy and falling in pieces, pivot pins falling as you use it, the two stationary bicycles had the seats crushed down by vandals and unable to adjust it higher than for a leprechaun biker... The treadmill had a hearth rate monitor sensor handle disconnected and hanging on the floor, no mattress, swiss ball or free weight dumbbells.
The Breakfast was nothing that was advertised in the publicity, nothing but always the same, scrambled eggs, greasy fried potatoes, greasy breakfast sausages, high calories grease ball biscuit with sausage gravy, no waffles, no pancakes, no fruits of any kind. Juice was from a machine often giving mostly water than juice, coffee was too hot (got burnt in my mouth even after 3 milks) often empty and full of coffee unfiltered, and last two days there was no milk at all (cows in strike??) so no cereals for the kids and no milk for the too hot coffee.

So if you'd like a good hotel and having at least the minimum basic things that I've mentioned above, just find another one.

I looked online for a place to stay and was pleased with everything the hotel offered or says it offers rather. It started out that we waited forever for the elevator, then we get to our room and the air conditioner doesn't work, the room was dirty and had a real musky smell. After all of this I thought okay please tell me that the view from the 21st floor will be one that is enjoyable...wrong....the pool was brown in color and the pool surrounding was dirty. I thought at this point okay I have traveled over 8 hours to get here it has to get better well it didn't, needless to say I was supposed to stay until Saturday and I checked out on Monday. Instead of this being called the Palace resort a better name would be Pile of .... resort.

This place is a joke!...I feel like I had been punked and was waiting for the camera crew to jump out at any minute to tell me that it was all a prank. Upon arrival the receptionist or whatever she is at the front desk was extremely rude and acted as though it would be a shock to me to pay in cash. I was told that if I used cash, I had to leave a $100.00 cash deposit at the desk that I would get when I leave. In addition, it was $870.00 for one of the most filthy rooms I had ever seen. The tub was dirty, the bathroom cabinet had duct tape around the bottom, the balcony door lock was broken you could barely open the door. I checked in on Friday the 13th, when I returned to the front desk to asked for another room, I asked for 1408 (Stephen King movie:), and they told me that it wasn't available. My daughter and I just laughed. After looking at 3 different rooms, we finally were able to stay in one of the barely clean rooms. This was my worst stay in Myrtle beach ever. My daughter is in college, so I am frequently there...however, I will make sure that I never book this place again. My advice...if you have to stay here check your room before you check in!

All of my bridesmaids were staying here b/c I was getting married the next day! The rooms were disgusting...Very dirty! there were dirty dishe in the cabinets and drawers. The bathrooms were filthy and there was trash on the floor beside the beds! I was so dissapointed b/c My new husband and I were going to stay hee for two more days- a gift given to us by the ladies! It was a total disapointment! We ended up staying somewhere else on short notice, Just a regular MOTEL, but it was so much nicer and cleaner than this place! I will never stay here again and I don't advise anyone else to stay here either! I went down to the office to tell them about the problems and was told they had no other vacancies and couldn't move any of us to another room! We were given clean linen and told that housekeeping had went home for the night! So the noght before my wedding we barely slept!!!!!! But the wedding was beautiful!
