“Beware...”

We stayed from Feb. 5-7 and what attracted us to stay at this resort was the indoor waterpark. However, the chlorine levels were so high in the pools and hot tubs that it burned mine and my husband's eyes to the point that it looked like we were crying. Also, our daughter suffered from coughing fits along with burning eyes that thankfully went away after she left the waterpark. When we went to the front desk to complain, two other families were already there complaining about their children getting sick from the chlorine and vomiting! When we checked out on Sunday, the front desk clerk asked my husband if we enjoyed our stay and he replied that we hadn't because the chlorine levels were so high we only used the waterpark once. She told my husband that we weren't the only customers who had complained and that the matter would be addressed. Were planning another trip to Myrtle Beach in March, and will probably stay at the Landmark Resort. Hopefully, they monitor the chlorine levels better than the Dunes Village Resort! If a person's main reason for staying at the Sand Dunes is for the indoor waterpark, you may want to reconsider.

We appreciate you candid response regarding your stay at Dunes Village Resort and I would like to respond regarding our Indoor water park chlorine levels. All of our pools, spas and specialty water attractions are constantly monitored to have the correct chlorilne and PH levels. Many people have different tolerences to chlorine, especially when not using sunscreen to protect the skin. Our weekends do have a high volume of use but we monitor these periods even more strictly and always try and provide a safe and fun environment for all.

“Don't stay here...worst service and experience EVER”

We checked in on a friday in february..which is usually very quiet in myrtle (trust me I know im a local). When arriving to our room we found the following: someone elses soap and used wash cloth in the shower, none of the counters wiped down, the floor had chips and crumbs on the floor and the dishes provided had food on them in the cabinet. We immediately went to the front desk to inform them. Nope they didn't offer to change our room they said they would send someone up to clean it. 3 hours later still no one came up. Back down to the desk we went...waited again still no one.Had to call the hotel to speak to the manager...wow someone finally came. We then went to use the indoor pool just to find out that it was a big play ground for unattended minors that had no supervision. Not did the hotel do anything about this. Our three children asked if we could leave cause they were to little to enjoy it cause of the big kids being do roudy. So we went back to the room only to be disturbed but the other hotel guest screaming and yelling from their balconies. This screaming continued for 10 minuets until finally someone who worked for the resort walked outside. It then continued for 10 minuets longer...mind you this started at 10pm. We have stayed at many resorts in Myrtle Beach...and this by far is the WORST resort. So if you want dirty rooms and to party then stay here. If your looking for a nice place with your family...look somewhere else..

Thank you for taking the time yesterday to speak with me regarding your recent visit at Dunes Village. I'm glad that we were able to resolve any issues you had at our Resort and hope you will enjoy the your time during the weekday at our Waterparks. As we discussed, our weekends are very busy and for those that want a more benign time in the waterparks, weekdays are perfect. I feel like our staff handled the noise incident perfectly and addressed all issues quickly and professionally.

“Nearly perfect winter retreat”

My husband and I stayed at Dunes Village for just over a week in early January. The holiday crowds were gone, but the resort didn't feel emptied out. I expect that's because of the waterpark facilities. We were in a one-bedroom oceanfront unit on the 7th floor. Our view was spectacular. The balcony was small--if the weather had allowed for al fresco dining, we would have been very cramped. The unit itself was quite comfortable. It was much as pictured on the resort's web site. Everything was clean, we had adequate dishes and cookware (nothing fancy, but serviceable for breakfast, lunch, and a quick dinner), the appliances all worked fine, and we really appreciated having a washer/dryer in the unit. The only complaint we had with our room was the wireless, which was quite weak. As for the amenities, we did enjoy having the indoor pools and hot tub. They were nearly empty during the week, but got quite crowded on the weekend. We also found the location of the resort to be convenient; we've stayed much farther north in Myrtle before, and it was nice to be so close to Broadway on the Beach, a nice selection of restaurants, grocery stores, and other shopping.

Room Tip: Choose a direct oceanfront suite--it's worth the extra $. We had friends who stayed in an angle...

“Nice water park and pools, but crowded and cramped rooms”

The staff was friendly, the pools and waterpark were nice but they were crowded and hard to find a chair if you got to pool any later than 8am. The rooms were average, ours had a strange maple syrup smell, which i guess there are worse things it could smell like, but it was odd (at one point housekeeping actually asked if we had pancakes for breakfast, so no, i wasn't imagining things). My biggest complaint about our 3 bedroom oceanfront room was that the living room was tiny, it barely has a loveseat sized sofa and one small chair, Definitely not big enough for the 6 of us that stayed there to spread out. But, the hotel was pretty clean but i don't think it was no where near worth the cost we paid.

Room Tip: get a room on a higher floor or else the noise from the pool will interupt bedtime and naptimes for...

Thank you for taking the time to respond regarding your recent stay at Dunes Village Resort. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the comments so we may focus on areas of improvement. We do have 15 different room types ranging from Studios to 4 bedroom units and floorplans are available for review on our reservation site. Our pools and waterpark are extremely popular year round and especially on weekends during the winter but we do provide some really great rates and less crowed conditions during most weekdays. Again thank you for staying at Dunes Village and we hope to see you again.

Yet another great time at dunes village. Newly refurbished waterpark in the hotel made it even better.my boss just returned this weekend after a first time visit on my recommendation. They loved it and wished they knew about it before. You don't recommend anything but the best to your boss!

Room Tip: Check the photos of the room which will tell you which tower the room is in. The palmetto tower has...

Thank you for taking the time to respond regarding your recent stay at Dunes Village. It is always great to get positive reviews from our returning guests. I also appreciate the feedback on the waterpark refurbishment we recently completed. Although we have many great things at Dunes Village, the two waterparks really set us apart. Again thank you for your comments and we hope to see you again soon.
