We arrived on 12/26/11, it would have been nice to have been told we had to check in across the street. Given room 230, within 15 minutes had ourselves relocated to 830, the original room was disgusting, dirty, smelled like cigarettes even though it was non-smoking, we weren't going to stay even after a 12 hour drive, we would drive the strip and find another hotel, they all said vacancy. View was spectacular, but unfortunately we had less time to use the beach as we had to drive around to find places to eat as all restaurants were closed even though when we asked 2 days prior we were told there were certain restaurants open. We were also told there were indoor pools although not heated, indoor does not mean there is no glass in the walls, can't have glass, use plexiglass, this is your business and this cannot have come without warning. The pools were not only not heated, but were empty. We stayed for 2 nights, wanted to check out the first morning because we did not want to give them the satisfaction of getting our money. When we called to complain that there was no where to eat or swim we were told no one at their facility would have given us that info. The hotel employees, i.e. maintenance, housekeeping, told us they do this all year long and they constantly have to deal with unhappy residents. Even clean, the rooms do need to be updated and stop cutting corners, we had to call down for extra tp and we had only been there a few hours. We requested extra blankets, took 3 tries. Shower would not drain, still drained slow when we left. Again the view is incredible and was the only perk to staying at this hotel, but if in SC again would definitely stay at another hotel.

We have stayed at this same hotel in years past, but they have let this hotel go. Upon arrival we were informed that our room hadn't been cleaned and it would be awhile before it was ready. (Check-in time is supposedly 3 p.m.) When the room finally was ready we were instructed to get our room cardkey from security and the housekeeping appeared to be leaving as we went in. What they did besides make the beds, I'm uncertain. The room was dirty and there were hairs on the beds and in the bathroom. The couch had nasty stains all over it. In addition there was an odd odor in the room. Despite this we made our way down to the pools, which the kids were excited about. I guess on their website they forgot to mention that the "year-round" pools are no longer heated. As the pools were a major part of a winter trip to the beach we complained to the front desk and were able to get our money back on the weeks stay minus a $25 charge to clean the room. I hope that money helped as it certainly wasn't clean when we got there. I couldn't in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone. With all the other hotels in the area, I'm surprised they are letting this one go this way.

I always spend Thanksgiving every year at the beach.. This year again we stayed at Crown Reef.. The staff was amazing and got a wonderful king jaquzzi suite for next to nothing being off season.. And as a frequent customer and signing up through Email you also get great deals!! Even though this is an older hotel it is still beautiful and very clean! Have stayed here many times.. And will continue to!!

I had a great experience at the Crown Reef. The location is very close, if not the closest, hotel to Market Commons, which was good for me!
