“Carolina Winds is losing its touch.. Maybe consider another place?”
Our family has always wanted to stay at Carolina winds since we started going to myrtle beach. We have always had good service, and the kids had a great time. We usually stay for new years and a week during the summer. THis year we went for 5 nights for new years. We usually check into a 3 bedroom unit for the winter visits. We have always had nice rooms in the past (1203, 503,) and requested the rooms when we made the reservation in October. they were not available so we were given unit 603. This room was a dump. 2 of the 4 sliding doors would not work, all doors were dirty, room furniture was old, and beds were hard as a rock. We immediately went to front desk, and they showed another room, 401. This room was paneling, and had small TV's that could have been computer monitors. So, we decided to stay where we were. The 2nd morning we had another bad experience, and decided to leave, or switch to another room. My back could not take the hard mattress, and our son had found something on his mattress. Management came up and immediately switched us to a very nice room that had been recently remodeled,(701) They also discounted our bill for the things found wrong with the other room.(all the rooms are privately owned).
Then i call back 2 weeks later to reserve rooms for a wedding. I want to get 3 very nice rooms, so I just called to the manager that had been working the weekend we were there. He told me no discounts, because the week I wanted to book there was an event going on down there, and they only had 2 3 br's left for that weekend, and one was on the first floor. I decided to call back later that night to book, but then the man that answered told me two different set of rooms that was available, and could not guarantee a certain room. What? I have been staying here for 6-7 years and now you decide you can't guarantee a room?
We have now booked at another hotel that was recommended by one of our friends, they actually gave me a better rate because I was booking 3 rooms. I just can't believe when you spend that much money with a hotel, they do not want to take care of it's repeat customers.
Room Tip: In the 3 bedrooms, 1203, 503 (deluxe)and 701 (north)are awesome rooms.
