When I made my reservation on a booking site, I was skeptical. So many hotels in the Myrtle Beach area show beautiful pictures and then you get there to find out the picture was of the lobby.
This hotel is different. The lobby IS beautiful, but so are the grounds and the rooms. The kitchen is well stocked and clean, the beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows, the entire hotel is non-smoking and has no "old smoke" smell like other hotels do. The sitting area between the pool and beach was gorgeous. Tons of tables and lawn chairs, even got to take a nap outside watching the ocean.
Hotel staff was polite, housekeepers were quick and efficient. My only complaint is I couldn't stay longer!

Typical Myrtle Beach (or most family style beach resort) hotel. Nice pool, but we did not use it. Nice beach, comfortable if modest rooms with stove, microwave, refrigerator. Convenient to all. Although this is the off season, it was still a good rate without any hidden "resort" fees, a good breakfast, and real high speed internet.

This was my first stay at Dayton House Resort. The room was a king oceanview and was clean and quiet. I only have two complaints. 1: The kitchen does not have a dishwasher. This wasn't that big of a deal for me, as my boyfriend and I ate most meals out. I could see this being a major annoyance if I had been traveling with kids. 2: The kitchen is in a small hallway that connects the living room and bedroom. The hallway is right outside the bathroom.

On the positive side, the bed was very comfortable. I have found beds in some hotels at the beach to be shorter than I am (weird, since I am 5'7"). I needed extra towels and the staff at the front desk brought them to the room immediately. The hot tub, sauna and heated indoor pool were very clean and enjoyable. I would recommend the Dayton House Resort to others.

When I booked the room I wasn't aware the buildings were all spread out and the pool was in a completely different building where we were. Needless to say I didn't brave the cold to take my 7 year old swimming and she was very disappointed. The free breakfast was pretty good. They were about to undertake a much-needed remodeling of the restaurant so that will be a plus. The bacon was fabulous, the watered down syrup - not so much. The rooms were clean but you can tell it is an old property as many are in Myrtle Beach. All in all I would stay here again if I had to but will definitely look for a different place next time.
