“people complain to much...”

i have read these reviews, and my husband i have stayed here on several occasions and on those occasions and the place was clean and orderly. staff was friendly, and maintainence was very good.. on one occasion, we called front desk to let them know the handle was loose on the sliding glass door.. they were there within minutes to fix it.,.overall, this is a great place to stay... there are no smells, or problems with the a/c.. people just have to complain about something. i have never, ever had a bad experience at this hotel... some people just have to find things to complain about to make themselves happy..

“Nothing short of amazing”

I have stayed at the Windsurfer two times now. We have had great experiences both times. The location alone is great, you are right by the boardwalk but still far enough away it doesnt seen to get too crowded. The hotel is great, yeah maybe the rooms don't all have brand new paint on the walls and the newest curtains, but who cares? The rooms are very clean, the jacuzzi tub works great (not all rooms have the jacuzzi tub, but the one I stayed in did), the kitchen is great if you are there for an extended stay and want to make your own food instead of eating out all week. I think I saved the best for last though, the staff and service is truly great. All of the cleaning staff is incredibly nice, and the people at the front desk are just great. They have gone above and beyond both times I have stayed there to make our stay truly great. If you are looking for a great hotel in Myrtle Beach with a great location and some of the absolute best rates, you'd be crazy not to book a room here.

“Another Perfect Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We just arrived home from another perfect ten day stay at The Windsurfer. Our room was ready when we arrived and as always spotlessly clean. I would like to address some complaints that other folks have had.

Parking. This is the only hotel on the strip that has some onsite parking. No, it's not enough to accommodate all rooms, but overflow is directly across the street. Not a huge issue.

Updating. This is a beach hotel and as popular as it is, the rooms get a lot of abuse from people. The furniture is hotel furniture, pine, and not my taste, but, there isn't one scratch on it and all the drawers work amazingly well. The appliances in the kitchen worked fine, though the side of the refrigerator could use some appliance paint to cover some rust spots. Yes there are some cigarette burns on the tub in our room but there's nothing to be done about that unless the whole tub is replaced. Water stains on the tub floor could be removed with some commercial wax stripper. I would like to see lids put on the toilet seats. All units have been repainted, old wall paper removed and new bed skirts and comforters put on the beds. Looks GREAT!

Housekeeping. I have no complaints at all about housekeeping. As always, they are very pleasant and accommodating. They do a wonderful job as long as you do *your* job and don't use your room as a pig pen.

Elevator. Well, what can I say? There is only one and when housekeeping is there working in the morning it's a bit of a wait. This year though, I was disappointed in the appearance and cleanliness.

The outside of this hotel is kept impeccable by Javier. The pools and decks are cleaned every morning, chairs arranged nicely, bushes and flowers trimmed, all trash is picked up, sidewalks cleaned. It's perfect. One note, there are two pools for this small hotel, which is a huge bonus compared to all the over crowded pools at the high rise condos around town.

I do have a complaint about the outside lighting. Always there have been spotlights on this hotel at night that were blue/lavender. For some reason, one of the bulbs has been changed to a bright white and the first night they turned it on, I thought there was a police raid going on. If your curtains are not shut properly, it can light up the whole room and make you think it's 8 a.m. when it's only the middle of the night.

The staff at this hotel is amazing. Miss Cynthia, Javier, and Mike all work hard to make your stay perfect. Even the owner is there every day with a warm hello. We stay at this hotel because of these folks and plan on returning each year.

Like I said in my last review. This is not the Atlantis. It's a beach hotel, great location, right on the boardwalk, clean inside and out, beautiful grounds, wonderful staff and owner.

It's the perfect place for your perfect vacation.

Room Tip: Stay on a lower floor and use the stairs if the elevator situation really bothers you.

We arrived at the Windsurfer on the 10th, with anticipation of alot of negative reviews! However, our stay here was enjoyable for the price we paid. We anticipated the elevator/the parking/the much needed upkeep. With a mindset of this, we were able to enjoy our stay! If your expecting a top notch hotel, this certainly is not for you. If your wanting somewhere to lay your head for reasonable rates, go for it! Yes, it definitely needs some upkeeps to the rooms, such as the fridge and the stove. The bathroom, well considering all the sand, yes, the tubs could definitely need a replacement. There was plenty of hot water, however, the pressure is another story. The view of the ocean is definitely priceless. Our air conditioning worked just fine. The biggest problem is the parking, however, any hotel on Ocean Blvd you will probably have this problem! We just dealt with it! The pool was a great temp, but we spent more time at the ocean than the pool. They have two outside showers to rinse the sand off before entering the hotel. The maids, definitely on our floor (7th), was very personable and met our needs as they arrived. The linens, some days were rough enough to exfoliate, other days they were nice and soft. We would stay here again, if we are there to enjoy the beach and not live "resort style". While here, we enjoyed 2nd Ave Pier for breakfast!!! They definitely had superb omlettes! The only downfall to our expectations of this area of Myrtle Beach was there was no night life. We were looking for some places to enjoy a few ocean front drinks with some liveliness...this was not found near us! Its definitely a family oriented area and we gained nothing but relaxation during our stay!!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 7th floor, the view was amazing!

Other than the parking issue, we really like this hotel. Been staying there for 10+ yrs. Staff is extremely friendly & very accomodating.

Room Tip: Choose the 3rd or 4th floor - don't have to wait as long for the elevator. Must get the rooms w...
