“Not my style”

We wanted to try a few parks in Myrtle beach after doing almost 3 months of state parks all over the southern USA. we ended up in pirateland. The washrooms need upgrading and would be at the bottom of all the parks we used. When we arrived we had a nice quiet part of the southeast corner in site 84 this lasted for two days until after christmas when the other campers began arriving for new years. All the sites have zero privacy, people tying thier dogs out side to bark, people not picking up thier dog poop,no dog poop bags any where, most pay phones dont work everything is closed except the indor pool and hot tub which are older but not bad. We took a premium concrete pad site which turned out very un level. The campsite snoopers drive by all day to see what your doing or any changes you might have done since the last 30 minutes when they drove past last time.
We just had a mid 60 couples drive by in thier fancy golf cart with the stereo cranked up with rap music to get every one to look at them as they drove past. When we arrived we thought we would stay 2-3 weeks but we are moving to the KOA to get some piece and quiet and maybe camp in the trees. I would never come here in the summer with pirateland running at full capacity after what we have seen with maybe 20% full. I cant imagine this place with hundreds or thousands of kids running around. The other two mega parks beside pirateland from what we seen driving through them are not any better.if you have any trouble backing up your unit you will never get in your site here but of course pirateland will do it for a fee.The power, water, cable TV are on the wrong side of your unit so bring extra cords or water line, at least the sewer is in the proper side. The staff were all friendly, Wifi was good except we used lakewoods next door as piratelands had a weaker signal. The washrooms have 4 showers and 4 toilets for each sex and service well over 100 sites do the math if you want to go shower or go to the bathroom. If you want concrete trailer park with no trees or a place to turn your kids loose to run amuck then pirateland, lakewood, oceanlakes would be for you.

Room Tip: bring extra power cord, water lines if you need it as the hook ups are on the wrong side of your unit...

“I lovve this place!”

We started going here 4 years ago and love every minute of it! This year we rented a 3 bedroom trailer for 3 adults and 3 young children and we had plenty of space. It was so nice to be able to just pack up the strollers and walk to the beach. We really enjoyed spending some time in the indoor pool to take a break from the sun and my entire family relaxed in the lazy river for at least 30 minutes (with 3 kids ages 2 and under it was heavenly) It is a very family oriented place and the people couldn't be nicer. We look forward to all our future family vacations to Pirateland!

“camping isn't for me”

Camping isn't for me, but I've stayed at the Pirateland camp ground several times, friends and family and enjoyed each stay. For a campground they offer the most. With beach access, a lazy river, shaded areas. A store on site with a grill. Nice bath houses, and pool. Gated so no one that doesn't belong can come in. And that it is not all that far away from everything if you wanted to go do something. It's been several years since i've been but I've heard they have just got better.

“Week long stay after Irene ruined my obx vaca! But pirateland saved it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We booked less then a week before on a holiday weekend and they were very helpful! It took a week that could have been horrible and made it wonderful. When looking at sites check out the ones on the waterway pay a bit more but they are much nicer then the standard site,

Room Tip: If you dont mind the walk the back sites along the water are wonderful!

“The Best Place On Earth!”

I have been going to Pirateland for twenty years and love it! We would live there during the summers as a kid, it has soooo many memories for me. Anyway it is a shame of the changes that have taking place. I remember the way it was so to me I ignore the staff and there lack of training. Pirateland is a great place to take a young family or old one. It is very safe. The further away from the stripe you are the safer you are. We love driving our cart all around and letting the kids play at one park and then moving to another one. We love hitting the pool after getting all sweaty or we will hit the beach. Pirateland is a big place so I advice bring your bike or my favorite and rent a cart. Especially if you have kids and a ton of crap to drag to the beach. Well in short, I say ignore all the nay sayers and ignore the staff. Go to pirateland and form your own opinion. I now take my kids and wife there. Love it!!!!!
