“Great Customer Service.....and very clean, too!!!”

My fiance has been going here for many years...since childhood. This is my second year and I really found MBTP to be highly organized. I served in the USMC and found the heads (bathrooms) to be immaculate. We store our trailer there year round and upon arrival I had noticed the trailer was placed in the lot site in a slightly crooked manner. Within 5 minutes a maintenance man was there to resolve the issue. He had noticed we also had a flat tire and within a few minutes another maintenance person with a truck and air compressor had re-inflated the tire...problem resolved! I could go on and on about how great this place really is. However, I am packing up our new RV (just traded the trailer in) and heading down tomorrow (10/3/11) for another awesome week.

My fiance, who has been camping for several years at many locations, had warned me when we go to campground locations near our home in PA for little weekend trips, to not be to disappointed or expect the places to look like MBTP. She had stated that MBTP is the Taj Mahal of campgrounds.

On another note I had actually proposed marriage to my finace this past August on the Beach here at MBTP...I could not think of a more beautiful place.

My family grew up camping in the summer at another similar campground that was in the southern part of Myrtle Beach. This year, my husband and I planned our family vacation with my parents, who own a fifth wheel. They wanted to camp and we wanted to be close by. We chose Myrtle Beach Travel Park because my husband and I could rent a 35 foot camper from the park and my parents could set up their camper right next door.

The general footpath is similar to other campgrounds in the area. Camping in the sunshine, near the ocean vs. camping in the trees, closer to the pool. There are also permanent rental campers, villas, and individually owned properties.

We visited in mid September so the demographic was primarily retirees, a few grandchildren, and a few young families who opted, like us, to vacation in non-peak season.

I only visited the pubic bath house once and it seemed nice and clean. The pool areas seemed very well taken care of. As a matter of fact, I witnessed employees checking the water on a very regular basis. My daughter loved the playground area. The beach area was nice and never crowded (although it was mid September and the weather was a little cool).

We also ate at "Breakfast by the Sea" one time. It was a little over priced to be serving food on styrofoam plates and using plasticware.

I really liked our rental camper. The floor plan was great for me, my husband, and our 21 month old daughter. We had plenty of space in the living area and bathroom. Even the shower was surprisingly spacious (for a camper). We arrived to having the awning out and a generous rug for us to set up our chairs and outdoor gear.

My main complaint was the quality of the mattress on the queen bed in the "master bedroom." This was the worst mattress of my life, second only to a fold out bed mattress I slept on once during my pregnancy. It was very thin and incredibly uncomfortable.

Overall, the facility was nice. But, I have amazing memories of visiting another campground. I am not sure if it is the reality of Myrtle Beach Travel Park being geared more towards retirees or that my memories of the other campground are steeped in time and fondness, but I am doubtful that we will got o MBTP again.

“We loved this Campground!”

This was our first camping trip as far South as Myrtle Beach. Hauling our 21 foot Travel Trailer the 18 hours from Ontario was well worth the trip.

We really enjoyed both our time at the campground and the attractions we attended in the Myrtle Beach area. I should point out that we had one huge advantage. The locals were all preparing to go back to school so the campground was not full and the attractions were easy to access.

This location is a mix of permananent and transient sites. The transient sites are generally all out in the open in a large field area so they lack privacy but they are all very well maintained. The campground is divided by one way streets making most sites an easy to access pull through. The sites were all full hook-up with the equipment well placed and easy to access. Each site has a sun shelter but there is no firepits. We were on site 320 which placed us sort of in the middle between the great pool and a fantastic beach. The washroom buildings in the transient area are all brand new, I would guess within the last year or two. They were large, clean and had plenty of space for all of the guests. There is a well stocked on site store. We shopped there a few times including picking up beer for Daddy and vinegar to heal our sons Jellyfish sting. The on site laundry facilities were spacious and clean with several machines.

The beach was clean and well maintained. We were in the ocean with our boogie boards every morning. The beach does have a lifeguard, but I would not count on them as the one we had was not overly attentive, had poor english and left the beach unguarded for frequent washroom breaks. When my son was stung across both legs by a Jellyfish she did absolutely nothing to assist with first aid. The pool was a ton of fun for the kids. There is a free form outdoor pool, a lazy river and an indoor pool. Everyday we were there some kind of entertainment was planned in the pool area. Participation in games results in prizes for the kids and one day "Chick-Fil-A" was there with a prize wheel. We ended up winning coupons that totalled two free dinners at one of the local restraunts.

While we were toured the Myrtle Beach area we got in a round of Mini-golf at a crazy three story high course, visited Magiquest twice, toured Boardwalk on the Beach and had dinner at Pirates Voyage. We spent more on entertainment then we had planned but our family had a fantastic time creating a memorable vacation.

We will definetly return to the Myrtle Beach Travel Park.

“Great Campground - Reservation procedures not so great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

We have been camping at Myrtle Beach Travel Park for many years. Every year the reservation procedure gets more complicated! I always reserve our site a year in advance in the same area. When reserving my site for next year, I gave 6 site choices. I asked if we would be placed on one of the preferred sites but she wouldn't tell me. I'm not sure why they are so secretive about site numbers. When we arrived this year our site was not ready. I asked which site we were being placed on but was told that information could not be given to me. It seems crazy that they make a big deal about which site your being placed on when there are many available sites all around the area we have chosen. It makes me want to change to Ocean Lakes where you can reserve online and you know your site number immediately.

Overall, the park is great. If the reservation staff appreciated their customers it would be better.

“Not sure If I would bother going to Myrtle beach again....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

The Park was OK....But...
I felt jammed in....all my views when eating out side under our awning were of other RV's sides...cos your jammed in together too close for my liking...(thats in the no shaded area close to the beach...and thats why we stayed in this park in the first place...to be steps away from the beach....However, getting a site in the shaded area near the lake may be better, not as hot and a real bonus if you can get water front....ask for closer to the office water view as its higher and you get views of ocean, including the lake....its not as grassy and well manicured as the beach front area...neither are the bath houses as nice as that area...so take a push bike and youll be close to all.....

Room Tip: if you considering the beach area sites...go for the B section right along the right side fench...
