This was our first camping trip as far South as Myrtle Beach. Hauling our 21 foot Travel Trailer the 18 hours from Ontario was well worth the trip.
We really enjoyed both our time at the campground and the attractions we attended in the Myrtle Beach area. I should point out that we had one huge advantage. The locals were all preparing to go back to school so the campground was not full and the attractions were easy to access.
This location is a mix of permananent and transient sites. The transient sites are generally all out in the open in a large field area so they lack privacy but they are all very well maintained. The campground is divided by one way streets making most sites an easy to access pull through. The sites were all full hook-up with the equipment well placed and easy to access. Each site has a sun shelter but there is no firepits. We were on site 320 which placed us sort of in the middle between the great pool and a fantastic beach. The washroom buildings in the transient area are all brand new, I would guess within the last year or two. They were large, clean and had plenty of space for all of the guests. There is a well stocked on site store. We shopped there a few times including picking up beer for Daddy and vinegar to heal our sons Jellyfish sting. The on site laundry facilities were spacious and clean with several machines.
The beach was clean and well maintained. We were in the ocean with our boogie boards every morning. The beach does have a lifeguard, but I would not count on them as the one we had was not overly attentive, had poor english and left the beach unguarded for frequent washroom breaks. When my son was stung across both legs by a Jellyfish she did absolutely nothing to assist with first aid. The pool was a ton of fun for the kids. There is a free form outdoor pool, a lazy river and an indoor pool. Everyday we were there some kind of entertainment was planned in the pool area. Participation in games results in prizes for the kids and one day "Chick-Fil-A" was there with a prize wheel. We ended up winning coupons that totalled two free dinners at one of the local restraunts.
While we were toured the Myrtle Beach area we got in a round of Mini-golf at a crazy three story high course, visited Magiquest twice, toured Boardwalk on the Beach and had dinner at Pirates Voyage. We spent more on entertainment then we had planned but our family had a fantastic time creating a memorable vacation.
We will definetly return to the Myrtle Beach Travel Park.
