“We loved this Campground!”

This was our first camping trip as far South as Myrtle Beach. Hauling our 21 foot Travel Trailer the 18 hours from Ontario was well worth the trip.

We really enjoyed both our time at the campground and the attractions we attended in the Myrtle Beach area. I should point out that we had one huge advantage. The locals were all preparing to go back to school so the campground was not full and the attractions were easy to access.

This location is a mix of permananent and transient sites. The transient sites are generally all out in the open in a large field area so they lack privacy but they are all very well maintained. The campground is divided by one way streets making most sites an easy to access pull through. The sites were all full hook-up with the equipment well placed and easy to access. Each site has a sun shelter but there is no firepits. We were on site 320 which placed us sort of in the middle between the great pool and a fantastic beach. The washroom buildings in the transient area are all brand new, I would guess within the last year or two. They were large, clean and had plenty of space for all of the guests. There is a well stocked on site store. We shopped there a few times including picking up beer for Daddy and vinegar to heal our sons Jellyfish sting. The on site laundry facilities were spacious and clean with several machines.

The beach was clean and well maintained. We were in the ocean with our boogie boards every morning. The beach does have a lifeguard, but I would not count on them as the one we had was not overly attentive, had poor english and left the beach unguarded for frequent washroom breaks. When my son was stung across both legs by a Jellyfish she did absolutely nothing to assist with first aid. The pool was a ton of fun for the kids. There is a free form outdoor pool, a lazy river and an indoor pool. Everyday we were there some kind of entertainment was planned in the pool area. Participation in games results in prizes for the kids and one day "Chick-Fil-A" was there with a prize wheel. We ended up winning coupons that totalled two free dinners at one of the local restraunts.

While we were toured the Myrtle Beach area we got in a round of Mini-golf at a crazy three story high course, visited Magiquest twice, toured Boardwalk on the Beach and had dinner at Pirates Voyage. We spent more on entertainment then we had planned but our family had a fantastic time creating a memorable vacation.

We will definetly return to the Myrtle Beach Travel Park.

“Great Campground - Reservation procedures not so great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

We have been camping at Myrtle Beach Travel Park for many years. Every year the reservation procedure gets more complicated! I always reserve our site a year in advance in the same area. When reserving my site for next year, I gave 6 site choices. I asked if we would be placed on one of the preferred sites but she wouldn't tell me. I'm not sure why they are so secretive about site numbers. When we arrived this year our site was not ready. I asked which site we were being placed on but was told that information could not be given to me. It seems crazy that they make a big deal about which site your being placed on when there are many available sites all around the area we have chosen. It makes me want to change to Ocean Lakes where you can reserve online and you know your site number immediately.

Overall, the park is great. If the reservation staff appreciated their customers it would be better.

“Not sure If I would bother going to Myrtle beach again....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

The Park was OK....But...
I felt jammed in....all my views when eating out side under our awning were of other RV's sides...cos your jammed in together too close for my liking...(thats in the no shaded area close to the beach...and thats why we stayed in this park in the first place...to be steps away from the beach....However, getting a site in the shaded area near the lake may be better, not as hot and a real bonus if you can get water front....ask for closer to the office water view as its higher and you get views of ocean, including the lake....its not as grassy and well manicured as the beach front area...neither are the bath houses as nice as that area...so take a push bike and youll be close to all.....

Room Tip: if you considering the beach area sites...go for the B section right along the right side fench...

“really liked campground, but reservation desk this year was rude.....”

My husband and i stayed at MBTR Oct. 2010 for the first time,(Myrtle beach is an annual thing for us) liked everything about it. I called earlier this year and they couldn't get me close to the beach, so I told them I would keep calling in case of cancellation. I couldn'y get anything by June so I booked a site at another park, further down on Kings Hwy, just in case. well i just got off the phone with a person at reservations and he told me he could get me a site, I asked him the site # and he said couldn't tell me that but it could me it would be between the lake and the beach. (that's a pretty big area and not all sites are for beach goers) Last year I was given a site # so i knew if I would like it but this guy was rude. One year you are given a site # now this year he can't. I guess I'll keep the reservations at the other campground. They gave me a site # so I knew if I would be happy with the location.

MBTP, Reservations Manager at Myrtle Beach Travel Park, responded to this review

Thank you for your review of Myrtle Beach Travel Park. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us last fall.

Reservations for the summer fill up very quickly (up to a year in advance sometimes). While we do not guarantee specific site numbers, we do ask for your area preference, even when we are filling in due to last minute changes and cancellations. We only promise a broad area when taking last minute reservations (like between the lake and the ocean); however, we do take note of your preference in order to better accommodate you if availability occurs. We give a more specific area description when reservations are made earlier, but just don’t have as much availability when reservations are made later.

Thanks again and we hope you will try us again in the future.

“A Very Family Oriented Park”

This was our first camping trip to Myrtle Beach. We have been to Myrtle Beach and stayed in Condos, but never in a camping park. Our family was completely satisfied in our choice of MBTP. I debated staying at some of the other parks because they had good reviews and many amenities that were appealing. For us, sight unseen, the decision boiled down to not having to deal with as many golf carts. MBTP only allows permanent residents and special needs campers to have a golf cart and that is a good thing in my opinion. They have both shaded, and full sun sites, site close to the beach and others closer to the lake or pool. They have almost any type site you may wish to camp on. We rented a site with water, elec., sewer, and cable for 10 days and were very happy.

Some notable things:

Many things for the kids to do, and they genuinely seemed to care that you have a nice stay without problems. i.e. Tie Die t-shirts, crafts for kids, kids daycamp from 10-12 daily (think VBS for kids), rubber duckie races, dive in movie, girls night out, etc, etc... The point is, the kids will not be without something to do during your stay.

One of the nicest pools of all the camping parks in MB that we researched and it did not disappoint in person. Nice lazy river as well and best of all, 6 days a week Chick-Fil-Et sandwiches and nuggets are sold in the afternoon.

The Beach seemed to be kept clear of the trash that somewhat plagues other parts of MB. The sand is some of the softest I have ever walked upon in the water.

Again, some golf cart traffic, but only those permanent residents and special needs campers. It was no problem for my family of 6 to walk to the beach from the front of the park to the ocean every day!

In short, after driving through the other major parks in Myrtle Beach (Ocean Lakes, Pirateland, and Apache) we felt that we had made the right decision for our family. We did not get run over by golf carts, security locks the gates from midnight to 7:00 AM, and any problems we had were handled promptly. We did not have a picnic table when we arrived. I notified the front check in ladies and within 30 minutes we had a never before used table sitting on our site. Not too shabby of response time considerring they were full when we arrived.

We will be back and I highly recommend it to anyone with a family. It's not a party crowd that seems to stay here, but those who like to have a good time within reason.

Room Tip: Be flexibily on your site. Each area offers many suitable sites. If one does not suit you, just te...
