“Nice stay. Read review for more details...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

This was our second stay at Myrtlewood Villas and are happy. The price is great and our condos were quiet and clean. There was some remodeling happening on the exterior of our building and when we arrived, I was disappointed at first but found that the workers were quiet and friendly but they did start at 7:30am so there was some noise early in the morning. The only other complaint I can mention is that the one time we used the indoor pool, the water was was COLD so we didn't use the pool again. I was surprised by the junk fees at checkout. $11.20 resort fee per day and $11.20 per day weekend surcharge. I wasn't expecting that but we got such a great deal that it didn't bother me too much.
Suggestions: Broadway at the Beach is nearby but dead at night in the winter; rent dollar movies at Redbox at the CVS nearby; tried to grill on the provided gas grill near the pool and the grills were not working well. For groceries: Bilo and Food Lion are nearby. We rode the SkyWheel with our two children; expensive but should do once with coupon before . 5pm, Also, play Golf on Myrtlewood; runs about $44 dollars. Have fun! Definitely better than a hotel if you have children.

“Great condo...after we switched units”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

I booked two units, a two and three bedroom for 4 days after Christmas. After reading all the reviews I was very worried, but traveling with 11 people, the price was right, so I decided to take the chance. Like other reviewers suggested, I called ahead and requested Magnolia Point units. When we arrived early at 1 pm, the ladies at the desk told us that our rooms were not ready yet, but gave us a key to the pool and offered to call us when the units were available. About 2 hours later, as promised, we received the call that our units were available. Check in was easy and the ladies at the front desk were very helpful. When we entered the two bedroom unit, I thought my husband would freak... The carpets were filthy and the linens and pillows were old and unacceptable. We are traveling with a one year old so filthy carpets are not an option. However, my husband went back to the front desk and the ladies gave us a new unit. The new unit was 100% better, a complete upgrade. Clean carpets, nice furnishing, clean beds with extra linens, fully stocked cabinets and clean bathrooms and kitchen. The unit has a nice pond view and is very quiet. The indoor pool area looks clean and fun, though we haven't made it over to swim yet. The grounds are clean and well kept. The location is perfect for us since we are visiting broadway at the beach and doing lots of shopping. I wouldn't stay here if I wanted to be close to the beach, but for proximity to attractions, this is ideal. All in all, for the price, we got 2 units for 4 days for around $400, I really can't complain. I will definitely request this second unit if we come back, which we probably will. We usually visit myrtle beach 3 or 4 times a year. My advice is to check your assigned unit, before you unpack the car ( lesson learned) and request an alternate unit if you are not happy. With owner maintained units it really is hit or miss. Oh, and don't forget to bring your own beach towels for the pool :)

My wife and I booked a 1 bedroom gettaway, and when we arrived we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom condo. Our condo was fabulous, the plasma tv's were GREAT, 50" in the living room, and 32" in the master bedroom. The condo was clean and nicly kept. I guess God really smiled on us because according to some of the other comments, we got the creme da la creme :)

“Worst ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

We had the worst room ever. Very old style looking building. The linen was just dirty. Ten inch flat screen in the bedroom. The whole place just felt nasty. We laid on top of the bed with our clothes on. We couldn't get another room because the main office closed in 11pm and we checked in late. My wife went in the office the next morning gave them a piece of her mind. We didn't pay for that night and we checked out. Don not not believe the pics on their site. They are the complete opposite. Do not waste your time and money! We went and got a room at the Island Vista. Awesone hotel at a great price.

Room Tip: Crappy room

“Rude rude RUDE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

My husband booked this condo for a nice getaway vacation for just the two of us. Upon arrival, we found that they had upgraded us to a 2 bedroom since "no nice 1 bedrooms available". The room was clean...but I think when they state the condos are "from the 70s" they literally are... from 1970! We had a 13" VCR television in the master bedroom. Too bad I left my binoculars at home! The furniture was old, but clean.
The second day we decided to use the pool. WOW what a mistake. Evidently a group of young baseball players and their parents had decided to use the pool also that day. While the parents were drinking away on their alcohol, the kids were allowed to do whatever they want in the pool. After being hit with a ball twice, my husband got upset and yelled at one of the children. The father of the child got upset and told his kid to purposely throw the ball at us all he wanted. When this was brought to the attention of the front desk, we were told "I'm sorry but you must share the property and learn to get along". Wow....I would at least expect them to walk down and calm the children down and instruct the parents to take charge of the children, but NO. WE are the ones told that we have to deal with it.
I refuse to go back to Myrtlewood Villas again. Lazy, rude staff that does not care about their patrons. Two thumbs down. I'll put out the extra money to stay somewhere else next time.
