“What a waste!”

After having a terrible experience at another motel we came here....this was just as bad....we check in and was given a room on the 3rd floor....well the rooms are joining room and the one that was joined to ours the people were fighting. We change room and was woke up at 7:30 am by the shower in the joining room and by the smell of cigarette smoke. We do not smoke and do not except to smell it when we stay at a motel. We did not have a remote to the tv and they could not get one to work. We we questioned about being in a smoke free room they tell me all rooms are universal. I am NOT staying in a motel room where they do not have smoke free rooms. We do not smoke and will NOT support a motel that does not offer smoke free rooms.

Room Tip: Do not stay here if you are a non smoker.

“Never forget this Family Reunion weekend”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Ok, we didn't to join our family reunion in Myrtle Beach during the weekend of July 15th. We didn't make any reservations, before time, so we had to check with the Pollynesian. What a waste of money. First of let me say, that the young ladies at the desk, were real patience with me. Going to the room, we thought it was okay. How wrong were we. Getting to the room, the carpet on the floors like like they weren't clean in ages, they (the hallways) just looked dark and dingy. We got to our room, and got ready to unpack, and realize that we weren't going to sleep on those sheets. We left and went to (good-old) Wal-mart, and spent over $100.00. (We brought sheets for both beds, washclothes, disinfect spray, bleach, a connection for the boys to play their XBOX(because the TV's were old, and didn't have a connection plug) and several other items.) My husband was mad with me, because I wanted till the last minute to look for somewhere to stay! So we go to sleep that night, and the shower ran all night, we called the front desk, and they said they would have maintence come up frist thing in the morning. Well lo and behold, they had to take down the wall of the shower and back panel w hich is now in the hallway(We had an end room). He said a piece was broke, and they had to go out and get another one. Next the AC cover just missed my head, it fell out the wall. Later we found a bug in our room. The indoor pool wasn't somewhere you wanted to have your kids. (the best thing we were next door to the CQ, and our boys stayed with family members all day in their luxury lazy river and pool). Okay we get ready to pack, and notice cats in the parking garage, well guess what, one must have touch one our bag, because we wound up with bites all over our body. ( I have pictures to proof it), and my husband and I had to go to the doctor and get treated.
****PLEASE DON'T STAY HERE****, I SPOKE WITH SOMEONE, AND THEY SAID THE GENERAL MANAGER WOULD CALL ME BACK, AND THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

I spent a week at the polynesian for beachweek 2011. and honestly. its good for what we used it for and not much more. for a bunch of drunk teens just getting outta high school its cheap, close to the beach and seriously.. what else really matters? i really wouldnt recommend this hotel for familys but for young kids looking for a cheap place to stay and partyy.. its the ish. lol hell we even had a kid puke all over a room in the ocean side of the building and wheeled him to the other building in a lugage cart lol so you know what it is. have some parties, drink a beer, trash the place who cares... but watch the maids. their snitches (:

“THE HOTEL FROM HELL!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

My family and I recently spent a few days in Myrtle Beach, SC. I looked for days for a fairly cheap, but nice hotel for us to stay for the weekend. I came across The Polynesian Beach & Golf Resort on South Ocean Boulevard. The prices were reasonable and the pictures were decent. My daughter and I left early Friday to get down there and check in and get settled and wait for my husband to get off of work and meet us there. We live in Florence, SC so the drive isn't THAT bad. Well we get to the hotel and it looks HORRIBLE! So I had to remind myself to "never judge a book by its cover"....Boy, I don't know if I should live by that motto anymore after staying at this hotel. We get checked in, which took us 30 minutes because the clerks at the front desk were SO slow. The girl, after I was finally done, gave me a room "key" with 2 different keys. One for the main door knob and one for the deadbolt (I knew this wasn't going to be good, but yet again I had to remind myself of the motto I live by). She tells me I can either park in the "beach access" parking, which is also the hotel parking or I can park in the parking garage. I decided to park in the parking garage. We were on the 4th floor, so I wanted to be as close to the room as possible, as my daughter and I were down there first and I had to carry everything to the room. As I ventured up the ramp which was alsmost perfectly vertical I get to the last ramp to the "top" floor of the parking garage and the top of the roof scratched my roof racks to hell and back. Yes, we haven't even gotten to the room yet. So once we were at the entrance, it took me 25 minutes to get into the room. THANK GOD I wasn't being chased by someone, I wouldn't be sitting here writing this review. Once inside, I took my first glance, which wasn't THAT bad. I got everything inside and once settled, decided to walk out on the balcony to check out the view. The sliding glass door's lock was broke and they had "replaced" it with a "man made" lock that DIDN'T work. It took everything I could to get the door open. I'm starting to get a very bad feeling about this place. Now I know what you are thinking..."Why didn't get you get your money back and go somewhere else?" Well because there was a HUGE sign in the lobby that said "NO REFUNDS!" This SHOULD have been a red flag for me, but yet again....So Friday night passes (my husband is there by now) and we go have dinner and come back, which took us 10 minutes to get back into the room because we had to "wiggle" the bottom knob. I was so uncomfortable sleeping in the nasty beds, we had brought a "Disney Princess" sleeping mat for our daughter to use if she wanted to, glad we did because I had her sleep covered up in that so nothing would get her. Saturday after spending the day on the beach, needed to shower. (This is where it gets good)....The knob for the "hot" water was SOOOO hot we couldn't turn it off without a towel (and it was barely on). There was black mold on the ceiling above the shower as well. We ran out of wash towels, so my husband proceeds to call the front desk to request more wash towels and regular towels and the lady tells him "you'll have to come get them because there is nobody here to deliver them." "Fine, not a problem", he says....She THEN says "we don't have anymore wash towels..." HOW DOES A HOTEL RUN OUT OF WASH TOWELS????? you are a hotel in a VERY busy city ON the ocean - HOW do you run out of one of the MOST important items a guest would need while staying in your hotel??? Needless to say, we had to get a hand towel and cut it in half to use as a wash towel (I know I shouldn't have, but what else was I supposed to do????) The chester drawers were broke and almost fell out when slightly opened. The room had 2 tempatures - FREEZING cold (and I'm very hot natured) and miserably HOT. The door in the bathroom stuck every time you closed it. We had to wash our own dishes which makes me think the people that stayed there before us didn't even wash the dishes which is VERY disgusting. I paid $145 for 2 nights for a place in the slums!!! Come Sunday morning, I was jumping to get packed up and go home and while packing, our daughter is 3 so we have to make sure we don't leave anything. Upon looking under the beds, we found OLD crackers and water bottles. I stopped there because I was too afraid of what else Ii would find. I will NEVER stay at this place again and trust me I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I pray I would get my money back for this place because it was a waste. And I have taken pictures just to prove to everyone how horrible this hotel is!!!! Even the elevators were nasty and I understand you're at the beach and it's supposed to smell like wet people and have sand, but the smell in the elevators were almost unbearable. The housekeeping people spraying something "lemon" that made the smell THAT much worse!! Now I'm out of $145 and no telling how much it's going to cost to get my roof racks fixed or replaced. I would have been better off staying in a cardboard box and paying $145 for that.

Room Tip: Don't Stay Here!

“Disgusting place to stay”

I flew to Myrtle Beach a day ahead of the rest of my family . I had read some of the reviews for this place but I figured it couldnt be that bad. Well it was.I was down in the basement with filthy indoor outdoor carpet in the halls. My room was filthy thin dirty looking sheets and old spreads on the bed . Moldings were missings and the ones they had were filthy. Afilthy coffeepot sat on top of a rusty dorm refrigerator. Walls that had torn wall coverings were painted over. I was by myself with no transportation to leave this rat hole of a motel. Thank God my family picked me up at 10am the next morning Believe me I was standing on the street waiting for them.By the way this is my first time ever writing about a motel but wanted to warn fellow beach goers to avoid this place.
