Went to Tangier Outlet with friends for a few days, and decided to stay here because it was walking distance to the outlets and a couple of restaurants. Just let me start by saying that I wish I had taken some pictures to prove I am not exaggerating, because even I have a hard time believing reviews like this. I must say that the ladies at the front desk were very friendly and helpful, and we had no complaints about the quality of the customer service. The carpets and furniture are worn, but that is to be expected in an older place. The room prices are very reasonable, so I didn't expect everything to be shiny and new. But there is a huge difference between worn and JUST PLAIN NASTY. I am not one to complain about little things, and I know you get what you pay for; but no one should have to pay for pure filth! The housekeepers at this place are so gawd-awful crummy at their jobs that I cannot even find words to describe it; all I can say is that they, and the management of this hotel, should be embarrassed. I am not sure if the health department inspects hotels in SC, but if they do, I am amazed this place is still open. It was some of the worst housekeeping I have EVER seen in a hotel, and I have stayed in quite a few in the past 40 years.
We took a DVD player with us to watch movies, and when I went to plug it into the back of the TV there was so much dust on the shelf and behind the TV that it actually rolled up under my hand when I ran it across the shelf. There was hair in the bathtub and on the bathroom floor, the toilet seat had been wiped on top but had not been lifted because it was disgusting underneath, there was a congealed glob of shampoo in the tub (or at least I hope it was shampoo, it sudsed up when we rinsed it out anyway), and several little flecks of toothpaste in the sink and spattered on the mirror. There were little pieces of trash on the floor around the edges of the beds, and under the tables and chairs - it was obvious it had not been vacuumed very well. One of the beds looked like the sheets had not been changed since the last guest because they were wrinkled as if someone had slept on them, then just remade the bed - rather sloppily I might add. Housekeeping never came to the room the entire time we were there, not even to offer to empty the trash. We had to go to the front desk to ask for clean towels and coffee.
It is unfortunate that the management lets this continue, because the rooms are decent size, and this could be a really nice place if it were kept up and CLEANED; it would be well worth the money because it is so close to the outlets and only a few minutes the beach and some of the major attractions in Myrtle Beach. However, unless they get rid of those nasty, inept housekeepers, I will not go back.
