Although hotel is about a mile from the beach, the price was right. A couple miles the other direction were the Tanger Outlets for shopping. Hotel is on Rt. 501 bringing you into the pier on beach with the new boardwalk. Our request for 1st floor room resulted in getting a faint old cigarette smell in the room. Desk person said only other room available was on a higher floor, which we did not want. They offered to deoderize & refresh the room when we went out, but we decided to do this ourselves with Lysol spray, etc. Suite & bathroom were very clean, carpet could stand a little spot remover, but not really bad. We had just spent 3 days in a new Comfort Suites in N.C., so we had to allow for age depreciation to enjoy this older hotel. One bed was terribly squeaky, like there was a busted spring. Daily housekeeping was excellent. All staff very polite and helpful. The only noise came from room above, with people walking early morning & evening (foot pounding & floor squeaking). Furnishings were up-to-date, no rips, tears or stains. Best part of stay was breakfast buffet, which was constantly stocked with fresh sizzling sausage & eggs, fresh sliced oranges, canned sliced peaches, yogurts, along with the standard bagels, toast, cereals, juices, with 2 waffle irons to accommodate the crowd that lingered because of the cozy breakfast room. One morning there was biscuits & sausage gravy. Breakfast was supposed to end at 9:00am, but staff continued to stock food to almost 10:00 to accommodate late comers. Laundry room available also helped. Walmart & other stores & eating places 1/4 mile away if you want to avoid heavy Myrtle Beach traffic. Quiet surroundings at night in safe environment.
