“The Basic Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

My friend and I stayed there 8 days while in Myrtle Beach. It's your basic hotel. The rooms are small if you have a room with double beds. We did find two roaches during the stay. The first room they put us in had the smell of mildew and we had to go to a different room. The air conditioner leaked in that room and soaked the carpet. Our smoke alarm went off in the middle of the night and they were quick to change the battery for us. It wasn't far from the beach and it was easy access. The laundry room was okay, just a tad expensive. I don't think I would stay there again just because of how small the room were. We moved the table to another area to have more room near the door. The beds were very comfortable and we didn't have any problems with noise. Over all it was a okay stay.

“Decent For The Money”

Everything seemed pretty clean, however, being an extended stay hotel w/ kitchenettes, we did end up killing two small roaches (I let them know on check-out so, they could spray the room/bldg.). The beds were good, and ammenties were good. The rooms did seem to have a problem w/ leaking AC units... thus, the carpet would mildew... If it hadn't have been for that & the roaches, I would've been more pleased w/ the room. The room did have some kind of weird smell to it and I had to wash ALL my clothes (clean ones too) when I returned home, just to get rid of the smell. For those needing to know: the dishes they provide consists of: 1 skillet, 1 small cooking pot, 4 of: plates, saucers, cereal bowls. 2 glasses & 2 mugs. 3 cooking utensils. Silverware & hand-held can opener. Towels were provided up front (charged for extras if needed). Sheets provided. One more thing, there isn't a desk clerk after 10 or 11 PM so, if any noisy guests, you have no one to complain to in order to resolve the issue. I could stay there again, however, I'd definitely want a good-smelling, non-leaking AC, room.

Thank you for your review. We use these comments to continually improve our hotel. We take the extermination of pest very seriously and have a service at the property regularly. As we are an extended stay model, the desk is not open during the overnight period, but help is available by phone and in person when needed. We appreciate your business and will see you again soon.

“Less for MORE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2010

There are a few problems here. The materials they used to build the hotel look good on the surface but they're cheap. So every little sound from children running in the hall to doors closing to cabinets slamming next door intrudes on the silence. The rooms aren't suites. They are small bedrooms with a table and tiny galley kitchen--not even close to the size or privacy level of a suite. If you breathe, people passing in the hall can hear it. There is no security. During the day, the front desk clerk has to leave the desk for security. At night there is no one except on weekends. No cameras in the hall either so it's advisable to be extra cautious as some shady people do stay here. It's not walkable to the beach so you might expect a break on the price but, oddly, it cost as much or more than some beachfront hotels. There is no maid service. Even though each room is so small with NO couch or pullout bed, they routinely allow four, five people to a room. Families who don't mind a circus-like atmosphere and college age kids and down-and-outers make up most of the guests because they can split the cost so many ways. It's loud, cramped, and expensive and ironically defeats the purpose of booking a room away from crowded Ocean Boulevard.

Thanks for giving us a try. Extended Stay brands aren't for everyone...but serve some people very well. The rooms are like effeciencies, all one room, for eating and sleeping. "Apartment style" with an affordable option for longer stays. A good idea for families on a budget.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2010

stayed here for myrtle beach marathon b/c it was close to the start/finish area adn wanted a efficiency style accomodations
It was a basic hotel - nothing fancy and not very big rooms, but it was clean and the service was nice.
It is close to shops/restaurants, but not to the beach. Near the Broadway at the Beach.

“Reasonable rates for beach proximity”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2010

We've stayed at many Extended Days and this one was certainly reasonable ($59) even for the off-season. Don't expect any amenities because these kind of hotels do not have them but if rates are good and it's close to the beach, why complain even if we had to trade dirty towels for clean? Room was clean and adequate and walls maybe just a trifle thin but with the air conditioner going, slept well. There was no public computer but staff was friendly and pool looked clean and inviting. Very easy route to beach and nearby restaurants and stores. We would stay here again when visiting Myrtle Beach.
