“Very, Very Disappointing...”

I recently booked a reservation for this property last weekend, I was so distraught by my experience so I decided to leave a review, something I dont usually do! I've been working with Marriott hotels for 5yrs currently an assistant General Mgr so I know the type of standards Marriott set, one being providing each guest with a room thats clean, fresh & reflects the highest quality. Its very disappointing to say this property was just the opposite. I should have went with my 1st impression of the lobby and the unpleasant aroma of the building that greeted us. We checked into the 1st room assigned, upon entering we noticed the wall near the AC unit had mold everywhere...on the floor we found a spider someone had killed & left there. The carpet was severely damaged, torn and dirty! We went to the desk to ask to checkout, the lady at the counter who was very pleasant persuaded us into trying another room and we did. We was upgraded" to what was suppose to be a view of broadway at the beach which I could have cared less about. Upon entering that room to our surprise there was mold on the walls and this time we checked the restroom to find the toilet was dirty! We went back to the desk to checkout after that. The desk clerk apologized. The rooms were absolutely horrible! The hallways, the carpert, the furniture, was all torn and worn. This property is in serious need of renovations asap which I noticed mentioned in the works. Im surprised Marriott has there name on this property. I understand this is an older property but it looks as if management has neglected it for many years now. Ive always stayed at Marriotts since I was a kid and was very excited to join the team, but I have to say this was by far the worst property I've ever checked into. We ended up going to the Fairfield Inn at broadway which was nice and clean!

“Don't Waste Your Time or Money!!!”

This hotel is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in in my entire life. It is supposed to be a Marriott property but the condition of the hotel was deplorable. The lobby itself is very plain and it desperately needs of a renovation. The hallways had large stains in the carpet, bleach spots, puddles from the leaking ceiling, and tears. The wallpaper in the hallway was peeling from obvious moisture problems and leaking. The directional signs were covered with electrical tape - yes you read correctly - electrical tape. The tape was used to cover up such amenities as the hot tub which was used as storage, etc... There was an odd odor both in the hallway and in the guest room itself. I could never really identify the smell. Inside the room, the carpet was stained and large scuff marks on the walls. The bed skirt had a large tear in it. I asked for the sheets to be changed and they never were. I know this as I had marked the sheets in the bottom left hand corner of the bed.The AC did not work as well as it should have and it made an odd noise throughout the night. I have complained to the corporate office / Marriott about the condition of this hotel and seem to be getting the run around. I would strongly advise all prospective guests to seek lodging elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay. As you know Marriott takes great pride in offering services and amenities that exceed our guest’s expectations and I would like to apologize for falling short of yours.

I wanted to take a moment to comment on the conditional items discussed and ensure you that we are working to continually improve. We are approximately 8 months away from breaking ground on a massive renovation to overhaul all of our public space and guest rooms! We have recently started to perform our semi-annual carpet cleaning and are working with vendors to have the wallpaper and lobby signage replaced. The leadership team and I have discussed your comments, and the details of your stay, and are addressing them accordingly. We take pride in our service and on behalf of the Courtyard team I would like to ensure you we are working to improve -- and thank you for your comments.

I would also like to apologize for the delay in your comments to Marriott. Because your reservation was a complementary stay donated to a charity function it was difficult to quantify. I trust the silent auction money provided relief to a great cause and the additional vouchers provided to you for your discomfort were satisfactory? I was happy to be able to resolve the issue and would still like to invite you back so that we can truly delight you.

“Had a very nice stay.”

Wow! The previous reviews are scary and not representitive of what my wife, myself and friends experienced during our stay. I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past and never had a bad experience. The staff at the hotel could not have been more helpful or pleasant. We were very satisfied from checkin to checkout. We ate breakfast at the hotel both mornings we were there and the food was very good, typical hotel hot breakfast. Hostess was extremely helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Room was clean, neat, typical Courtyard room. Disappointed that it did not have a mini fridge or microwave but not a major issue. I will stay here again without hesitation.

“3 star property? Someone must be very confused”

How in the world could this be considered 3stars? The place is dilapidated, smells, halls dirty, hot tub broken, and obviously been broken for a while, considering I could see it, and it had boards laying in it! Ended up checking out in the middle of the night, due to hearing doors slam, and the AC not working well at all! This is one place I will never stay at again, and once again, who comes up with this "star" scale and can give this place 3 stars, laughable.... almost forgot to mention mentioned the AC to the front staff and was advised it was not working well, the response was "aww" that is it....

“Would not stay again!!!!”

I booked 2 one bedroom suites for 6 nights. When I checked in they told me the rooms I booked were not even an option at that hotel. Why do they call them suites if they are just regular rooms? I was given a "King room" with a pullout sofa and pool view but no balcony. The room did not have a sofa but it did have a whirlpool right next to the bed. My daughter offered to sleep in the whirlpool if it would help. Besides this hotel is “nonsmoking”, the room stunk of cigarette smoke. The other room they gave me was connecting with 2 queens and a balcony view of the pool. It was fine for my sister and her 2 kids. I went to change my room and the only room they had available was a king with a sofa 2 doors down from my sister. I agreed. It was tiny and no balcony but still had pool view.

The next day we were out all day and came back to the rooms about 5pm. My sister walked into her room with her 2 kids and it smelled like skunk which is what she told her kids. It really was marijuana. As if someone just finished smoking in her room. It was so bad. She went to the manager and was told they know about the problem but did not know where it was coming from. He offered to move our rooms up one floor and over the other side of the hotel. We agreed. But now my room had a view of the parking lot and still no balcony. The manager also offered us breakfast for the remainder of our stay (5 more days).

I am so sorry that the room type you requested when booking your stay was unavailable. We were sold out the weekend that you were here with some room types oversold and therefore, our options were very limited. I can understand that you would be disappointed that you did not get the room type that you were expecting and my sincerest apologies.

Also, just to let you know, we did know that someone was in the hotel smoking pot and we had the location narrowed down to a couple of rooms, however, we could not prove which room it was until the next morning when housekeeping went in to clean and the proof was left in the open for us to see. The guests of that room were locked out and when they returned that evening and found that they could not access their room, the were evicted from the hotel. As you know, the hotel is a non-smoking hotel and we do not tolerate cigarette smoking in the rooms let alone pot smoking. However, we do have to be very careful in accusing someone. I am sure that you and your family members found this situation disturbing and I am sorry that we could not act any quicker than we did.

Please know that we always try to accommodate every request that comes in, but sometimes we fail and I am sorry that your experience with us was disappointing. I would love for you to return sometime in the future and give us the opportunity to exceed your expectations.
