I was prepared for worse, and had come with a list of alternate properties just in case it was really bad. Price was high compared to advance specials being offered at several beach resore hotels however there was no minimum stay requirement.
Room, elevators, lobby were all okay. 4th floor hall had a funky smell which was hard to describe: musty, old. I have come across that at oceanfront hotels, but this one is not near the oceanfront. I didn't see any mildew.
Nothing you could really walk to. It is next door to a mall but too dark to walk for me.
TV in room was old kind, no flat screen. No fridge or microwave in our room.
Pool looked clean but chlorine fumes were strong. I couldn't sit in the pool area long. Not enough pool towels, but they did issue room towels from the front desk if you asked. There was a large group using the pool, mostly kids in the pool and parents out back on the pool patio. This group was loud as you might expect. Kids...pool...makes sense. Even though the posted pool hours were until 11:00 pm, the desk clerk came in several times scolding the kids to quiet down or the pool would be closed early, because guests in rooms overhead could not sleep. I'm not sure I see the logic in this. If the hotel wants quiet time earlier because there is possibly a soundproofing deficiency, why do they leave the pool open that late?! Nothing was said about the noise from the patio. Not sure if they just didn't want to confront the paying parents, or if the kids were th only issue. Anyway, if you have kids who like to make noise in a pool before it closes, you might want to look elsewhere!
This would not be my choice of places to stay when I return to the area.
Another poster mentioned the breakfast and was totally correct. Not nearly enough seating for a full house. Food selections were typical, but the hostess was friendly.
