“Great place to unwind”

Not in the middle of chaotic Myrtle Beach. Close enough to do short trips to daytime Beach activity or long if you like and night time festivities. Location is easy acess to all M.B. has to offer! Barefoot Landing, Broadway @ the Beach , Flea Markets, etc...

“We loved it and the perfect location!”

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate. Location was great because we could walk to the beach or drive to the boardwalk or parasailing within 20 minutes. We will definately considering staying here again!

“Good Stay”

We had a couple of glitches with check-in and housekeeping, but I want everyone to know by this review that Hampton Inn fully stands by their 100% satisfaction guarantee. Our room was comfortable, had fantastic climate control, and the beds were great. We left a comment card and Mr. Tilden, the general manager, called me personally to discuss our concerns. He refunded our entire stay...we didn't ask, he offered! I have always stayed at Hampton Inns because they are reliably clean and comfortable. After this experience, I will never stay anywhere else. Do not be afraid to stay at this hotel, they will take care of you. It was also in a beautiful, shady location.

“BEST Customer Service!”

My company booked a block of rooms for a track meet held in the area. The front desk attendants were patient, friendly, and efficiently helpful. They were always courteous and always offered coffee, even for those who were not guests. The service received at the Hampton Inn - Northwood blew away the service provided at the headquarter hotel (Sand Dunes Resort & Spa). We even moved some of our staff into the Hampton from the headquarter hotel because of the supreme quality at the Hampton Inn. The hotel is a short walk from the beach, and is much quieter than any of the hotels located right on the beach. This is THE choice for hotels in Myrtle Beach.

“Not clean”

Please keep in ming that I am normally very kind with my reviews (check my reviews and you will see that I give most properties very high marks), but I was very ambivalent about this hotel. Keep in mind that I have stayed in 9 different hotels in the last 15 nights due to vacation then an immediate family emergency so I can very easily compare hotels right at this moment,

The good:

This hotel has a good location and is secluded, not suffering from the road noise that affects most myrtle beach area properties.

The complimentary breakfast was nice. One of the nicest I've had in awhile.

The free afternoon cookies were also a plus.

The bad:

The room was not clean. It was very unclean in fact. I found maybe 10 hairs in the bathroom that were not ours. There was also a long hair on the bedsheet. Hampton Inn supplies a lapboard and it was very dirty. The hotel "book" with check out time, safe information, etc. was sticky and nasty. The hotel supplied pen had been chewed on and was sticky. There was something splattered on the bathroom wallpaper in several places that was not wiped off. There was something red dripped on the phone. There were some base tiles missing under the bath vanity.

Also, this one really bugged me. The shower curtain was not long enough, and it was impossible to shower without blowing water onto the floor- and I mean lots of water.

Otherwise I would say that the property was fine, but these are issues that are difficult to ignore.

Upon checkout I informed the desk staff about the cleanliness issue and she did not even apologize. She only asked me why we did not come and ask for another room. I told her that we were exhausted after a long couple of days at the hospital (after my father had a heart attack and was in intensive care) and did not want to come to the desk and lug our stuff to another room. She made it out to be my fault because I didn't change rooms. It was certainly not my fault that the Hampton Inn did not properly clean their rooms.

I really expect every room to be properly cleaned. I expect to NOT have to change rooms to get a clean one.

To be fair, the hotel had been 100% full the night before and maybe didn't have enough staff to do a thorough cleaning job. But they should have just cleaned as many rooms as they could properly clean and left the others unrented until they could clean them right.
