I should warn my stay at this motel was in 2005, and I should have written the review back then. Perhaps the place has improved though it doesn't sound like it has. I can accept worn and dated furnishings in exchange for low price and realize that bargain accomodations might yield some stained carpets or curtains, etc. I think this place dives a little deeper than that though.
This place will always be memorable for me as the place where my husband emerged from the shower dirtier than when he went in! He made the mistake of touching the shower rod and then touching his face. He came out of the shower with an ashy streak on his face; the rod was filthy black with years of dirt and grime that you wouldn't think could have existed in a shower for so long!
The other things we remember -exposed wiring withing a lighting fixture, a big gap around the entrance door that made us pretty nervous that it would be easy to break in, and oddest of all, a tv where the sound continued (at a much decreased volume) AFTER you turned the tv off! We couldn't figure out where we were hearing sound from one night, and kept thinking it must be the neighbors when it was our own, darkened tv. Also, later on we were told that this motel was known as a hooker haven and that cops were always visiting this joint.
Pros - great location right across the bridge from Charleston, source of future stories to tell.
Cons - hairs found in bed, dirty and run down room with no amenities to the motel other than an ice machine and a vending machine.
