Overall, we were not satisfied with the three night stay, it would have been a
much more enjoyable stay if several things had been different:

1st: The room had two heat/air units that worked, but they were more noisy than
other units I've experienced and they prevented a very restful sleep most
nights;

2nd: The room was a suite with a full kitchen, which is the main reason we chose
to stay at Rodeway. The configuration used to power the small kitchen
appliances: toaster oven, coffee pot and can opener, was certainly unusual (see
attached photo) and caused concerned about whether to use the devices or not,
especially with everything being directly over the kitchen sink. We decided
rather than take a risk, for our own safety we didn't use any of the devices;

3rd: The microwave was located atop the refrigerator (see attached photo), which
was in an inconvenient location for my wife, which is only 5'3". It would have
been nice if it had been in a more accessible location;

4th: The toilet would run continuosly once it was flushed. I ended up adjusting
the chain on the flapper and that made it operate as it should; and

5th: We planned to use one of the pans that came with the room/suite, but
noticed that it had some baked on food residual on it. It was pretty well
cemented to the pan and since we didn't have any scouring/steelwool pads to
clean it, we just decided to buy some disposable aluminum pans when we shopped
for groceries at Harris Teeter.

I realize that to some these may seem like little things but when combined they
caused the overall stay to be not as much of a pleasurable experience as it should
have been.

I didn't mention any of the above to the staff during the stay, first, because
of the short stay, I didn't want the hassle that normally results and secondly,
there probably wasn't much they could do for us, especially since that was the
only suite that was available when we booked.

I can't say that I'd recommend the suites at this place.

The motel is older and on the second day our lock stopped working so they had to move us to another room. I did not like the room as well but it was clean and they gave us a discount for having to move. The breakfast was great, as well as the staff. It is so close to Charleston and so convienent.

Our hosts, the local blues festival, put us here and we had a ball. Nice staff, close to everything, super comfortable and (I guess) a good price. Stop and enjoy!

The room was large, with a comfy king bed and a couch for lounging. I always travel with my dogs and it can be a challenge to find a decent room at a good price. The front desk people were amazing and the lobby was very clean. The pool was large and there were people cleaning it every morning. The rooms need renovation -- it's definitely an older property -- the rugs are not well fitted, and I did see someone else's hair in the corners of the bathroom. However, the tub was sparkling clean and the room was perfect for what I needed. I heard very little noise -- most hotels in this price range are not as sound proofed. I was facing the pool, and though there were kids splashing and laughing, once inside the room you could not hear them at all. The a/c worked well, not a bug to be seen, close proximity to downtown Charleston and the beaches. I will stay again in a heartbeat at these prices!
