This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at this hotel in Mount Pleasant. Unless you want to risk being in the path of the paper mill stench in North Charleston, this is the only place where you can get a room with a full sized fridge, cooktop, and microwave. It's not bad--there just aren't many other amenities. No ice machine, no pool, no relationship with any other fitness center, spa, or pool. The staff are friendly, but the young lady who checked us in was close to clueless. The room was mostly clean, but the flooring had been mopped with a dirty mop and was sticky. I had to clean it with wet paper towels to get rid of the stickiness and some of the aroma of the cleaning solution. That said, the flat screen TV is nice, and there are 2 channels of Showtime. There are two desks/tables, two Aeron-like chairs, and one comfy recliner. The bed is a bit firm for my taste, but it's OK. Will we come back? Probably. Do we wish there was a pool/spa and/or access to one through some reciprocal relationship with another organization. Absolutely.

DO NOT stay at this hotel! This hotel is not worth the rates they charge, their rates are based on one person per room and there is an extra fee for every person after that . Beds are hard as a rock, there is no room/cleaning service unless you stay a full week(7 or more nights). If you want your room cleaned before then you have to purchase an additional cleaning, as they put it. If you want fresh towels you have to exchange your dirty ones at the front desk. There isnt even a trash can in the rooms except for a tiny one under the bathroom sink. A lot of construction workers seem to be living here temporarily while they are working in the area. A short drive to historical downtown Charleston is really the only plus here...but at the same time there are numerous other hotels within a 1/4 mile radius to choose from.

IF you don't want to be bothered by a fire alarm, don't stay here! We noticed the power kept flickering randomly, then around 1:30am, the fire alarm sounded. It was so loud I think I lost hearing in my left ear. It blared for quite awhile before the fire dept came, everyone out in the hall all embarrassed but unwilling to go outside. When we checked out, front desk staff said this has been happening a lot lately there, and they aren't sure why.
Second issue was the smell. Smelled like fish and farts in our room. Had to go get some febreeze to remedy the problem. Opened the windows, ran the fan.
Didn't give it one star because the staff were honest and attempted to be helpful.

Overall, I am pleased with this location given the price that I paid, which was less than $60 per night for a 2-week stay. The room was in good condition and had all the promised amenities. The hotel is very close to the bridge to Charleston, but is not in a noisy area.

High-speed internet works very well, and costs $5 per stay, not per week or per day.

The selection of television channels is poor, and there is no excuse for that in this day and age.

I found the soundproofing OK, and I know that there was someone in the room next to me for at least part of my stay, but please note that I was on the top floor.

The bed is quite firm, and the pillows are rather hard. However, I was able to obtain slightly softer pillows from the courteous front desk staff.

The washing machines in the guest laundry room are not very good, especially if someone who has used the machine before you had sand or grit in their clothes. Inspect the bottom of the machine's receptacle before placing your clothes in it, and contact the front desk if you see a problem. The friendly management responded promptly, and well, to this problem and to the housekeeper's overlooking of the kitchen surfaces during the weekly clean.
