I didn't stay at this property. Sent them an e-mail inquiry (on their "contact us" section) asking where in Charleston their shuttle stops so I could look for a restaurant within walking distance at night. Waited 2 weeks, no answer. Plenty of other fish in the sea, so I went with a B&B that was very responsive.

This was our first trip to Charleston and we were absolutely delighted with our stay at the Charleston Harbour Resort. The staff was friendly and helpful in helping us plan how to get done what we wanted to do. The room was very well appointed, bright and sunny, equipped with all we needed (including a wine cooler!). Their shuttle service to downtown Charleston and to local restaurants were just the ticket. They had other shuttle services that we did not avail ourselves of, but could have. Our only disappointment was discovering the restaurant was closed on Sunday when we checked in. The bar was open so we were able to have a meal there without getting back in the car. We would definitely go back there again and have recommended it to friends who are planning a trip to Charleston..

I stayed at the Harbor Resort with points earned on my business credit card over a period of several years. My trip was to attend a professional conference at the North Charleston Convention Center. The Resort and the Conference each had shuttle buses to downtown Charleston, a place I have been visiting and enjoying for 20 years. As a place to stay for this type of trip, or other business event for which I neither nor wanted to walk out of the hotel and to the meeting or onto the downtown street, this resort was perfect. But I love the water and had access to open areas for walking, jogging or watching. The resort is a 15 min cab from the convention center and 5 min from downtown.

I've stayed at this resort twice now, once in September 2012 and once in May 2011. In May of 2011, we were greeted by bellhops who carried our bags up to our room and were very gracious and professional. When we arrived in September, there were no longer bellhops. We didn't really mind, because the hotel itself is very beautiful. On our first stay, we stayed in a harbour view room and it was beautiful! On our last trip, we stayed with a parking lot view (all that was available) and it had a horrible view of dumpsters with garbage and food strewn about (not attractive). Also this room was smaller. It was still one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The air conditioning was so loud when we came in that we called the front desk. It was fixed right away- within ten minutes. The toiletries are amazing and the room is beautifully decorated. They will charge a resort fee (around $10 per night) that is not included when you book through expedia, so beware of that.
