Stayed here primarily because of Farm Bureau discount for Choice Hotels.
The good: Sleep Inn located near about 5 other hotels just after you cross into Mount Pleasant. very close to bridge towards downtown Charleston. Semi-residential neighborhood near fast food, casual restaurants, shopping centers, with lots of bicyclists and dog-walkers. Very pretty landscaping, woodsy area. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice, shady pool area with 41/2' pool. The hotel and room were very clean.Only noticed minor signs of wear and tear (couple chips in tile, picks in carpet.)
The bad: Our room had an unusual odor, that we never could identify. You noticed it each time you entered room, but got used to it while in the room. The mattress on the Queen bed needed replacing. Neither of us slept well on it. Although the breakfast was typical hotel fare, I didn't care for the selections/flavors offered. Very few "healthy" options. They offered whole fruit, but no fruit cocktail/mix, etc. or any yogurt. Saw no whole wheat pastry/bread options. There was a long line every morning for the only waffle machine. I'm sure they were good, but not worth time to wait on.
*** Didn't realize when I booked that hotel accepts dogs. I have nothing against dogs, but I don't have one inside my home and would rather not have them in my hotel either. Kinda wondered if odor in room was b/c of a previous dog! Unsure of they designate certain rooms, "dog rooms" or not. But the Sleep inn would probably be a good choice for those travelling with dog.
