“Good security, nice little villa, disappointing view”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2010

We booked Seaside Villa #138 through vrbo. The first thing you notice is the security gates which you can not get through without a key fob. Then, it was difficult to get the door unlocked. That's okay though; good security. The condo is small for a family of four, but we have managed just fine. The coffee table is so large we actually are using it to eat meals on since the table area is tight. The little kitchen area has granite countertops, neutral colors in the villa are calming, and (most importantly) it is relatively clean with a comfortable couch and bed. My youngest son loves the hallway bunkbed. There are several BBQ grills here underneath a nice shaded area, and the pool area gates are difficult to open for kids (you have to be tall to unlock the gates). We have an ocean view and the website photo appears to be a closer view, and the web page states "oceanfront beach villa", but it is misleading. Most of our view is of the parking lot, but we would prefer to have a direct oceanfront view. The price was reasonable for HHI and the villas are very close to Coligny Plaza. We love the location, and that is probably it's best selling point. See this webpage for more information on this villa: http://www.vrbo.com/51710

“We enjoyed Seaside Villas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2010

We had a wonderful time at Seaside Villas-----we enjoyed the pool (practically had it to ourselves) and the ocean and just sitting on the beach and watching the night sky.

We also enjoyed checking out things to do in the area and traveling to some nearby towns we'd heard or read about,.

The condo where we stayed was in excellent shape.

“Great location”

Found this condo on VRBO.com. Individually owned, but managed by a local company. We spoke directly with the owner concerning rates and then were referred to her agent.

Located right on the ocean. Even though it was March, the Atlantic was warm enough to wade into. Gorgeous beach, pretty empty.

The condo was small. It was fine for two adults. Recently redone, Everything appeared to be in good shape and clean. Separate bed area, although no door. Then a small bathroom with tub, and a small kitchen/livingroom with sofa bed and recliner. Full kitchen with dishwasher and fully stocked cupboards. It had a doorwall with a balcony from which we could see a sliver of the ocean, but not hear it. Parking was plentiful and there were two pools on the grounds.

It was quite a deal at $316 for 4 nights Easter week. They actually threw in the 4th night for free. Management company was prompt, helpful, and across the street from the complex.

It is located just down the street from Cologny Square--actually within walking distance. I would recommend staying at Seaside Villas, but it would be very cramped with a family, in the condo that we stayed in.

“Not great”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2007

My wife and I just stayed in unit #215. The pictures are were accurate but misleading. The unit is advertised as a one bedroom but it is not as there is no wall between the bed and the remainder of the living area. The bed(room) is located immediately next to the front door. There is an overall bad odor in the hallways. The place was not cleaned well. There was a open bottle of hand lotion left on the night stand and the deadbolt did not lock from the outside. The beach is great however.

“Seaside Villas unit 310 the pits”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2007

I booked this unit through the VRBO website. It is listing 63938 in South Forest Beach. I would recommend this complex to anyone however it is very nice in a good location but the units are individually owned and this particular one is rife with problems. The first problem is that their advertisement is filled with lies and fraud. For example they claim two cable TV's in the unit but there's only one cable TV outlet so one TV can't possibly work! They claim new cabinets and a fully updated kitchen. In fact the cabinets aren't new, merely repainted old ones. The appliances are approximately 30 years old, the dishwasher is broken and has been for quite some time, the ice maker is broken, and we had to purchase cookware at Walmart because we feared tetnus if we used what was there it was so old and rusted. Most of what we used was either broken, filthy, missing parts, or rusted. We notified the owner and they told us we could leave and receive a refund for only the remainder of our stay. This was Monday and other units rent SAT-SAT or SUN-SUN so we were stuck unless we wanted to go to a hotel at our expense. She sent someone to clean and fix the stove on THURSDAY, we we had a stove to use with our own cookware for one day. Everything else was left as is. BUYER BEWARE on VRBOdotCOM do your homework even if you do it is a crap shoot. Email me for pictures. The files are too big to be posted here.
