I'd rate this hotel a 0 if I could. First off they messed up our reservations and we were given a different room then what we asked for. Staff seemed clueless as to anything that had to do with the hotel or area. The parking was horrible and eery and we had about a 10 minute walk with all of our luggage to take up to our room. When we got to our room it had an indescribable odor, and the floor was dirty. The lamp shade had some stain (blood?) on it, hair was everywhere including on the couch and chair so we couldnt use them. The walls, floor, and sheets were stained, our refridgerator didnt work and had a weird smell coming out of it. We put our own blankets over the bed to create a barrier from what filth existed beyond the top sheet. There were huge spiders all over the place. The balcony...I wouldnt even call it a balcony, overlooked a green (closed) pool. Our room connected to a creepy room next door, that we never asked for. The outside door to that room had some sort of symbol on the front of it, and we felt like we were in some horror movie. There were no phones in the room and we never asked for room service the entire trip because we were fearful of being robbed. We did not feel safe during our stay and kept the TV on at all times so it seemed as if someone was there when we werent. The elevators were old and questionable, but the steps werent any better. The hallways were hot as hell and just as dirty as the room. Not to mention they smelled like urine. After I got home from the trip I was very sick for 2 weeks, probably due to the black mold all over the place. This hotel is so bad our taxi driver couldnt believe that it was still open. Overall this hotel is not worth saving money...Find someplace better and FAST! TERRIBLE HOTEL...should be shut down ASAP.

i have stayed at the metropolitan motel twice. for the most part it is a quite place thats a bit out dated. yes parking is tight not alot of spaces, but all in all it is a good place it is pretty clean. its close to the beach, shopping and plenty of resturants. i take my family down and the best thing about it is the money you save at this place. you can put that towards more dinning and fun and shopping. it isnt the hilton but for the money very nice!

We have been going to HHI for 20 + years. Decided to do a quick trip for 2 nights on the island and wanted some place cheap. Location is okay, not a bad walk to the beach. That is the only benefit to this hotel. Regardless to not being in your room much, I would like hot water for a shower. It was lukewarm at best and no phone to call the front desk......so several trips to front desk with no good result. Carpet and sheets were stained. We slept with our clothes on and a tshirt over the pillow. After the first night, we complained and tried to check out but they would not refund out 2nd night stay, even though we did this before the 11 am check out. Al...at the front desk , told us that we would have to talk to the manager who was conveniently not in until Monday. We left anyway and disputed it with our credit card.
What a joke of a HOTEL!! If you decide to stay here, check out your room before you pay:)

First off...you get what you pay for. All these ridiculous comments make me laugh. Your paying below average prices for Hilton Head Island, if you want a clean safe place you must pay for it. The restaurant is owned & operated privately...it is NOT part of the hotel. Coffee is not 4.00 and they have free refills. Again, the comments are ridiculous. Hincheys Chicago bar & grill have been in business for over 15 years, they obviously know what they are doing if they are still in business. I've been coming down to hhi for 20 years. I would never stay st this hotel but going to hincheys has been an annual ritual for us. Even if its attached to a cheap hotel.
