We had 4 people in the unit- 2 adults, 1 teen, and 1 child. First the bad stuff (none of which was too bad.) The set up of the kitchen cupboards was difficult for a short person. Most of the cupboard that held the glass was unreachable by someone under 5'9" without a chair and even then was a hard reach. The pool was not heated (but that didn't bother the kids!) The keys kept demagnetizing and to get them replaced you had to drive a bit. There was no internet available in or near the units. The only other negative was we did the timeshare tour of the management company's other property and had the stereotypical timeshare salesman who twisted the truth (or outright lied) but we were expecting that. We were not expecting that the free gift they promised us for coming in had a $250 price tag attached. So BEWARE of Spinnaker's (Southwind's management co) sales team. Also while on the tour of their Waterside property, we got stuck in their elevator. Doesn't sell their maintenance too well.
Now the positives. The unit was large and spacious. It has a master bedroom with a huge bathroom including a deep jacuzzi tub and a smaller bedroom with 2 twin beds, bath, and huge closet upstairs. Downstairs was a large table for dining; a breakfast bar; full kitchen; good size living area; nice deck with table; and another full bathroom. There were plenty of towels provided and also 2 bikes came with the unit. Hilton Head is a great place to ride bikes and the weekly rental of a bike runs $20-30. The unit was very close to the bike path to the beach. It took us less than 5 minutes to ride to the beach house where you could either lock up your bikes or take them right onto the beach with you. The pool was large as was the hot tub by the pool. There were a couple of gas grills for anyone's use in the pool area. Also in that area was a ping pong table and a sauna.
The view from the villa wasn't great but it was very private. It looked right into some woods. Other villas looked over lagoons complete with resident alligators. The unit is located in the Shipyard plantation and fairly close to restaurants also.
For the other amenities- there was internet available on the other side of the Shipyard Plantation at an activity center. The little bit we saw staff (our choice) was good encounters. You could pay $20 for the week to use a fitness facility at the Player's Club hotel. We did not look at the facility. There is too much to do outside in Hilton Head to need a gym!
