My fiancee and I stayed here two nights in June and very much enjoyed ourselves. The location of the property is ideal on Hilton Head and, though the resort is older, the layout is fantastic.
My check-in experience was wonderful. I checked in late at night, very tired from a long drive and the young lady who checked me in was upbeat, friendly and personable. She gave me clear directions to my room and explained the location of the pools and other amenities.
Our room was located on the ground floor, near the elevators and the apex of the exit to the pool/beach area. It was very spacious and clean and well appointed as I would expect from a Hilton property. There was a great deal of noise from passing families during our stay as we were positioned near a main thoroughfare, so I would ask for a room away from these areas. We didn't spend too much time in the room, so were not overly bothered by it.
There were two large swimming pools, one of which I was told is designed for adults only. My fiancee and I loved this idea, but we frequently saw children in this pool as well, which we felt defeated the purpose a bit. The resort was teaming with couples and families alike and offered plenty of water sports recreation activities. The outdoor bar by the pool offered the best service we received during our stay, apart from the friendly check-in experience. The drinks were wonderful and the staff acknowledged us. (Not saying much!)
We dined at HH Prime one evening and this was by far the worst experience at the resort. Having spent all day running between the beach and pool, we were both tired and hungry for a full meal. We were seated promptly, but it took more than 10 minutes for our server to come acknowledge us. When he did, he explained there had been a table mix up and he would now be our server. He did apologize, but he seemed more inconvenienced by our addition to his evening than anything else. He then took our drink order and walked away without asking if we were ready for our food. We then watched him proceed to go argue to another server quietly near the bar area about whose tables were whose and who was going home. Overall, a terrible impression of the restaurant. Though our table was nice and the view was pretty, the food was entirely unremarkable and extremely overpriced. It also took an exceptionally long time arriving and our server was inattentive at best. My water glass remained empty once I finished it and was never replenished. Overall, our experience here was not worth the $100 we spent on dinner and drinks for the terrible service. This was our only disappointment with the hotel.
Overall, this is a wonderful property with some fabulous amenities. The location is beautiful and the rooms are probably the most spacious on Hilton Head Island. I certainly will return to the property should I find myself in the area again (though this time we'll dine off property).
