“Beautiful property at a great value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

My fiancee and I stayed here two nights in June and very much enjoyed ourselves. The location of the property is ideal on Hilton Head and, though the resort is older, the layout is fantastic.

My check-in experience was wonderful. I checked in late at night, very tired from a long drive and the young lady who checked me in was upbeat, friendly and personable. She gave me clear directions to my room and explained the location of the pools and other amenities.

Our room was located on the ground floor, near the elevators and the apex of the exit to the pool/beach area. It was very spacious and clean and well appointed as I would expect from a Hilton property. There was a great deal of noise from passing families during our stay as we were positioned near a main thoroughfare, so I would ask for a room away from these areas. We didn't spend too much time in the room, so were not overly bothered by it.

There were two large swimming pools, one of which I was told is designed for adults only. My fiancee and I loved this idea, but we frequently saw children in this pool as well, which we felt defeated the purpose a bit. The resort was teaming with couples and families alike and offered plenty of water sports recreation activities. The outdoor bar by the pool offered the best service we received during our stay, apart from the friendly check-in experience. The drinks were wonderful and the staff acknowledged us. (Not saying much!)

We dined at HH Prime one evening and this was by far the worst experience at the resort. Having spent all day running between the beach and pool, we were both tired and hungry for a full meal. We were seated promptly, but it took more than 10 minutes for our server to come acknowledge us. When he did, he explained there had been a table mix up and he would now be our server. He did apologize, but he seemed more inconvenienced by our addition to his evening than anything else. He then took our drink order and walked away without asking if we were ready for our food. We then watched him proceed to go argue to another server quietly near the bar area about whose tables were whose and who was going home. Overall, a terrible impression of the restaurant. Though our table was nice and the view was pretty, the food was entirely unremarkable and extremely overpriced. It also took an exceptionally long time arriving and our server was inattentive at best. My water glass remained empty once I finished it and was never replenished. Overall, our experience here was not worth the $100 we spent on dinner and drinks for the terrible service. This was our only disappointment with the hotel.

Overall, this is a wonderful property with some fabulous amenities. The location is beautiful and the rooms are probably the most spacious on Hilton Head Island. I certainly will return to the property should I find myself in the area again (though this time we'll dine off property).

“Fantastic Room for the Price and pet friendly!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We stayed at the Hilton Oceanfront resort over Christmas. My family was at Disney, but we had to stay elsewhere because we had our dog with us. Our dog loves the beach. So the Hilton was the perfect fit.

Upon arriving, we were upgraded to an ocean view room for free. A pleasant surprise! We also found at that as long as our dog was on a leash, we could take her anywhere on the main floor and outdoor grounds. So we didn't have to keep her locked up in the room. This was so wonderful! She sat next to us while my husband and I enjoyed the hot tub. She came with us for morning coffee at the coffee shop then we went down on the beach. They even have a doggie potty and play area. It was wonderful to be able to enjoy all the wonderful features of the resort with her.

The hotel room was lovely. It was spacious and clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The room has a mini kitchen with dishes and cooking utensils. The bathroom has 2 sink areas which is nice when one person is using the bathroom. The deck was very large. Our dog enjoyed sitting at there watching everyone walk past.

The grounds are very nice and well maintained. It is unusual in the sense that everything is connected by decking. It's not grassy and open. They have a small "creek" that runs through the property. So the pools and decking were built around it. There is plenty of parking around the complex, so you never had to walk to far from your room to get to the car.

Overall, the hotel is lovely. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone, especially if you are looking to bring along your four legged friend.

“Luxury by my standards”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I suppose Paris Hilton might find this beneath her standards of luxury, but we loved it. Yes it is a little dated, but the room was huge and impeccably clean. We had a very lovely little balcony with a partially obstructed view of the ocean and a very nice view of the beautiful courtyard bellow us. Our room also included a nicely appointed kitchenette, so we never had to go out for breakfast (or lunch for that matter).

Service was most friendly and professional - you had the feeling of being in a high end resort any time you had any interaction with staff. It was off season, so only one pool was operating, but it was gorgeous and spacious. The pool lounge chairs were lovely and comfy. the only complaint I had was that the hot tubs were quite a long walk from the pool - of course the walk itself was through part of the courtyard with very nice pools filled with fish and beautiful native flora - little signs even identified the fauna and flora, which was a nice touch if you like nature as I do.

The beach itself is hard packed making long walks along the ocean very easy, although in January, the wind can get quite strong. It's still very serene.

The only downside (and it seemed to us that this applies to most areas (Plantations) on Hilton Head is that you pretty much have to get in your car to get to a restaurant or store. There's no problem going for a nice walk either along the beach or along the roads inside the plantations, but you will not like ever see anything other than gorgeous homes, condos or hotels. Many guests also rent (or bring) bikes and this is a great way to get around, even on the beach. But a car is necessary for diner unless you eat at the hotel and in the case of HH Prime, the eatery on the property, it seemed quite high priced - Paris Hilton would not mind the expense, but it was too rich for my blood.

Room Tip: If you travel in the winter, they will likely give you a room facing the ocean without an upcharge...

“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We booked the room thru hotwire for 67.00 per night. Oceanfront hotel. You must drive to get to restaurants, etc. It is located in Palmetto Dunes Resort section of Hilton Head Island. The restaurant at the hotel was very expensive. $12 for hamburger and french fries. The hotel is old and in need of an updating. There is NO INDOOR POOL at this hotel. The outdoor adult pool is heated and there are two outdoor hot tubs/jazzuci's. We enjoyed these.

The room was adequate and the bed was very comfortable. Only complaint was the overpricing of meals and items in the Palmetto Market. $5.00 for a bag of popcorn!
